A harem super hero story? I’m in!

A harem super hero Story? Seriously? I figured you know what I’ve listened to stranger things than this. I wasn’t disappointed. The story has your classic mr nobody who is now the center of the story with these super powered sexy ladies coming into his life. Mad scientists and their evil creations are after them, he is using his nerdy gaming abilities to max out the girls powers and his amateur writing ability to tell their story and get tips on the bad guys. What’s not to enjoy? Do not listen to this with younger children, there are some scenes to be expected with anything that refers to a harem. Enjoy this improbable tale. Well written and well narrated. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Beta male adventures part 1

Of the 3 books ( thus far ) I think this one is the worst and they get progressively better.
The good: I like how the author clearly states that the MC, is useless in a supers fight. The MC dose not pretend that he is something he is not through he is constantly trying to be "Hip" / "cool" / "Gangsta" Too often these super hero adventures have a MC with an overly inflated sense of self importance. Not this MC who constantly places the ladies first. As far as the sex scenes go, they are short and tasteful. Though they are always lurking around a corner.
The Bad: The author clearly has not a lack of understanding when it comes to security, explosives, and many other inconsistencies Example: The two ladies have GPS implanted in them but for some reason its OFF until a later event turns in on. Or how a evil corporate government agency with mind control powers never bothers to notify the police and put out wanted posters.

Another in the Gamelit genre for all to enjoy.

The power set and setup of the story is a bit cliche but I enjoy how meta it becomes. I enjoy the narration and the interaction that Grace has with Giddeons inner thoughts.

Surprisingly Good

I found myself rather enjoying this story. Of course I also find I enjoy soundbooth studios. I will be looking at getting the next one.

I went into the book with relatively low expectations, but I think the overall book was well done.

Super Meta

A gamelit author writes a book about a gamelit author who writes a book as gamelit type stuff happens to him. Super meta stuff. Even talking about the gamelit community a bit. It's also very much a harem series, which I'm usually down for, but maybe this wasn't for me. I felt like the women just didn't have too much personality or much of a connection with the main character. Part of it might be how they grew up. It's a bit of a reversal to manga harem stuff, where the MC is a bit bland (though maybe strong or skilled) and all the women that surround him have much more defining archetypes. In this case, the MC has a lot of personality, but each of the women fall short. Buuuuut, that might just be because this is a first person harem narrative, while they are usually 3rd person. So maybe just something I'm not used to.

Cherry Blossom Gals can'tcha come out tonight

Harmon Cooper sure knows how to improve a dark and stormy night. He throws in a naked girl! Ok, so that is not what the story is about, and the tale is a fun action packed mutant-fest, but the naked gal sure is one heck of a piece of bait to get you on his hook. And once you've bitten, he just reels you in with ease. The "hero" is a writer you might just recognize, with a friend that you might just recognize, who meets two hot ladies (you won't recognize tem, but if you somehow do you are very lucky) who are in danger. It seems they are living experiments raised by a top secret governental agency. And now they are obsolete. Grace and Veronique are fun little killers, ah, um, I mean wonderful maidens in need of a hand. Thankfully, Gideon is there to lend them one. The story takes off like a blend of Stranger Things and the X-men with Gideon playing the role of the leader in spite of his lack of powers. One thing I realy like is how Harmon Cooper plays this book as if it is autobiographical. It sort of reminded me of the Nightmare People by Lawrence Watt-Evans. He did the same thing with monsters, and that was great fun too. Harmon knows how to keep your attention, and pace his story. He never lets you get complacent, and sometimes it feels like the ground is rolling beneath you. Moving ahead without taking a step.

I do need to remark on the changes made by Soundbooth Theater. This book is a great mix of the whole team. I loved the way the ladies were mixed in with the narration by Justin James. Normally, this is the part that I would be praising Jeff Hays (who has a minor role in this production), and saying how he is my favorite narrator and how well he and Harmon mix together, but since we have an entire team I have to admit that although I missed Hays as a major contributor the team really brought their A-Game and crushed the whole project. I have to say that this was a total home run and anticipate seeing more projects like this in the future. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

I would love to see more of Grace, Veronique, and Gideon in the future!

Great book

The main character is a nobody writer all of a sudden is put in a difficult position. The performers at the sound booth theater really makes this book come alive. I received this audio book for free at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Good concept, good narration, mediocre story

This is an X-men sort of harem tale with a mediocre main narrator surrounded by an excellent but underused supporting cast of narrators. The story was delivered in a somewhat vague manner in regards to WHY the girls latched onto this guy. There simply isn't a reason why they kept just showing up on his doorstep, although I suspect the author may be saving that explanation for possibly the next book. Despite all of this, the lackluster story could have been saved if not for the poor main narrator who sounded bored the entire time. The other narrators did a wonderful job and anyone who has heard their other work shouldn't be surprised. All-in-all the concept for the story is intriguing and creative so my hope is that the author comes back with a new main narrator and develops a more complex storyline in the next book. It's not terrible, but it just didn't live up to its potential.
