Great book, okay narration

I love the Cainsville series, but am disappointed in the audio. I was able to get the ebook from my library so have been doing a lot of simultaneous reading and listening, only to discover that the audio is slightly different than the original book! Mostly it seems to be just small liberties the narrator takes, minute changes that aren’t necessarily detrimental to the overall story. However, in the previous book (Deceptions), I discovered a whole page missing from the narration, and it was pretty important to the story!

loved the book, but not impressed with the additional narrator. the original reader is soooooo much better!

Great Story

Kelley Armstrong has a way of pulling you into her tales and making you care about her characters.

Why the 2 different narrators?!

Both are good, don’t get me wrong but.... well the one playing our Heroine mostly is a touch grating. It takes a moment before the annoyance her voice elicits wears off and so each time they switch back and fourth it actually pulls me right out of the damn story!! So frustrating. So unnecessary. Would have been understandable if they’d went with a male voice actor but they didn’t. Which- ok- than why do we need two when the deeper voices woman does a fine job of all characters??? It’s a good story but the switching back and fourth is definitely not helping that story get told. Simple as that.

Loved the story line but ...

I didn’t really like the new narrator Julie McKay. Her voice lacked emotion and there was really no difference in tone with the different characters she read. Will finish the series because I love Kelley Armstrong books. Her story’s never disappoint.

Accent of both actors

Loved everything about this book. This is a fascinating story and the actors portrayed the characters perfectly.

Great Story, Horrible 2nd Narrator

Like the other books in this series, the story is great and I have come to appreciate Carine Montbertrand's narration. But Julie McKay, as the new 2nd narrator, took me out of the story every time I heard her robotic voice. I was disappointed to see that she is the second narrator in future books as well. I may continue the series on Kindle.

New narrator not great

The second narrator for the 4th book has changed. It’s jarring (especially as I decided to listen to the 1st three books again before finishing the series) and I don’t think she’s very good with the male voices. This will not keep me from purchasing the 5th book; it’s just disappointing.
Carine Montbertrand still very good, does great with the chapters from Olivia’s point of view (including the male voices)

I tried…and failed

I’ve read the books and I’ve listened to the audiobooks up until this point. I tried to listen to this one but the new secondary narrator was just not doing it for me. I struggled with but tolerated the main narrator (the voice just seemed too…sweet? Child-like? I don’t know how to describe it) but changing it up in the middle of the series just threw everything off kilter.
