About this listen

In a game of power, can love be the deadliest weapon?

Stirling Grey, legendary negotiator, is on a mission: to mend her broken heart and avenge its ruin.

Morrigan Lee, hidden princess and heir to the throne, is harboring a dark secret.

For years, Stirling and Morrigan navigated the perilous games of power and politics, shared clandestine moments, and ultimately fell in love... Until a deal with fate forced them apart.

When the Queen sets a formidable challenge, Stirling and Morrigan are thrust into a treacherous labyrinth of danger.

The task? Protect the kingdom from a terrifying threat or lose the crown forever.

But this is not a simple mission. With the clock ticking, they're going to have to trust each other... And that's not easy when their past is filled with betrayal. It's even harder when their hearts are entangled amidst the chaos.

Now, neither woman is sure if it's the throne they want to rescue or love they want to rekindle.

Two hearts, one kingdom, and a romance that could lead to their ruin… or just maybe their redemption.

This is a steamy lesbian fantasy romance with second chances, ruinous secrets, found family, a masquerade ball, a long con, and a love that could either shatter a kingdom or save it. Intended for mature listeners.

Romance and Ruin

I knew it! This series has me completely - I almost don't wanna read the last book because I don't want it to end!!😭

Stirling and Morrigan are just 🤌🥰... their love runs DEEP, which you can tell right away in the first book. Here, we get a look in their past and learn how they came to be apart. We also leave that you can't really keep them apart lol.

There's so much more intrigue, mystery, excitement, and romance in the series....I love it all!!

The Queens of Hearts

This is definitely a stark contrast dynamic between Morrigan and Stirling compared to the constant nitroglycerin chemistry between Scarlett and Quinn. I think at one point it was so frustrating how much self hurt both Morrigan and Stirling put themselves through individually, it kinda damped the mood of the story. There was constant heartbreak because of the past hurts and mistakes. There was so much martyrdom by each MC when it came to their hearts desire. Though, hindsight and having some days to think about it, I possibly attribute the maddening bleeding hearts of Morrigan and Stirling because of how independent, selfless, and strong Ruby crafts these women to be. Both women are from high ranking political families in which duty to family and city play such a strong role of who they are. And because of Stirling being a negotiator and Morrigan being an heir to a throne, that’s a lot of poker playing with hearts going on. But geeze, what a power couple! Someone who can negotiate at the side of someone with a throne **snap**.

I thought the side of Stirling you get to see in this book— as opposed to the version she is portrayed through her sister’s eyes in the first book— was quite interesting. In fact, I think of the two MC’s she has the bigger bleeding heart. She’s overall quite the romantic, rather than the brash player Scarlett makes her out to be in the first book.

I love that once Morrigan’s true identity is made known to the team, she already acts like an esteemed leader and keeps her close counsel with the team. She’s quite an inspiration of a leader and not afraid to still get in her mother’s face even when she doubts herself.

Just as the first book, there definitely is no shortage of smut and spice and everything nice in this book… so, if that is not your thing, and you read the first one, expect the same in the second. I like that Ruby doesn’t shy away from what true emotions happen in a physical expression between people who are in love; it is a lot, but it’s pretty honest of what most people do behind closed doors or at least hope for.

I loved that tall the main supporting cast is back… The A Team is back together! (Wonder if we will ever get some side short stories about some missions the team ends up on in the future… **hint hint Ruby**) It’s so cute to see how ridiculously puppy love Quinn and Scarlett are, even when they are supposed to be serious. I love that the rest of the team trolls them so much for their struggle to keep any distance between each other. I like that we see a tad more about Remy as she was the least portrayed in the previous book, but I hear we shall see much more of her in the third installment of Girl Games, so definitely about to jump into that as my next listen.

The overall whole story definitely keeps you on the edge with action, double crossing deals, revealing flashbacks, and a love of pizza in a fantasy land with magic! The ending was a little irresolute, so I am hoping there is a little more closure in the next book.

The narration was just as fantastic as the first book. Islay and Kyo both perform each of their characters with so much personality, they really keep the story exciting and tugging on all the heartstrings.

Can Love Overcome Secrets?!

The story was unique with so many amazing twists and turns. The author painted such a vivid picture of the world she created-I felt I was immersed as the story unfolded. The 2 leading ladies hearts were on the line and it was deeply felt…big-time feels and so so much top notch sexy times…phew. Highly recommend this series…can’t wait to read the next one! Thank you!

Love is a messy business

Being able to relate to what the trials of love can go through in relationships was very real. Feeling the flow and dynamics of all the different character relationships was nice. We got to see more about how they all grow as a group! The magic system was more inclusive this book. I enjoyed the over all storyline!
