About this listen

Can love survive when trust is the rarest magic of all?

Bella Blythe, master of lattice magic, is determined to win the Runic Games... If only her greatest rival, Remy Reid, would get out of the way.

For years, they one-upped each other in competitions, jobs, and apprenticeships… Until a single kiss changed everything.

With the biggest competition of their lives ahead of them, they're going to have to trust each other. A futile task when they're both harboring secrets filled with betrayal…

With a reputation and a relationship at risk, they're left with an impossible choice: Do they want to win a competition or a heart?

Two women, two betrayals, and a romance that will rewrite their destiny.

This is a steamy lesbian fantasy romance with rivals to lovers, forbidden romance, only one bed, found family, forced proximity, and tons of spice. This is the final book in the Girl Games trilogy. Intended for mature listeners.

Magic Techies and Their Guilty Pleasures

After reading A Game of Romance and Ruin, I wasn’t sure what the overall tonality of this book would be like between Bella and Remy. The way this book reads is like [ the way too smart] for me computer techies who happen to have the element of magic sourced into their coding skills competing for the top spot in the land. So, again Ruby gives us a great dynamic duo of independent women who are very intelligent and accomplished in their fields of expertise.

Bella took a minute to grow on me. But as the continual flashbacks progress and I learned to see beneath her surface, I actually found her fairly admirable. She definitely goes through the more of the humbling character metamorphosis throughout the story.

Remy was a bit of a mystery to me coming into this book. There wasn’t much of a back story on her, minus the very quick mention of her connection with Quinn. As her backstory unfolded, when I think back to the previous two books in the series her mysteriousness and her humbly quiet personality in comparison to the others on the team, makes so much sense now. But you know what they say about the quiet ones 😜.

This enemies to lovers trope wasn’t as entertaining for me as A Game of Hearts and Heists, but the constant battle to prove who is the best, and the ultimate sacrifice they both make for something greater, still kept me so entertained with all the banter and competition to be on top. Ruby never disappoints with the intensity her characters have towards each other in every emotion.

The “desire” part of the title is 🔥. There is a lot of explicit scenes so if that is not your thing, this may not be for you. But I will say for all the smut scenes Ruby does put into each of the 3 books in the series, they carry quite a lot of honest emotion. I think it definitely speaks to what many of us either experience or want to experience in the physical part of any relationship.

I was hoping there was a little more supporting character involvement from the team in this one. It seemed like there wasn’t much they could do to team up like they had in the two previous books and I kind of wished there was a little more action for the whole team since this is the last in the series. Morrigan does have the largest supporting role and it was interesting to see her character develop in a different sense during this story.

And now I am so intrigued by Red’s involvement, that I am about to delve into the Kingdom of Immortal Lovers.

I have yet to read the written copies, so I can’t comment on the grammar or format of the book. But I will say this audio version was superb when it came to the two narrators who have continued through the series. Again both Islay and Kyo do so well with the emotion of each character they speak for. And they keep the same affect, tonality, and personality when they have to read lines said by the other character during a chapter their main character is giving her point of view. I hope both narrators continue to read more books. They are both so pleasing to listen to…not gonna lie I am always a sucker for a melodic accented voice :) Score that in this book, I got 2 for the price of 1 and in a 3 series!

It was okay

It was a pretty good read. It could have had a better narrator. It was hard to keep track of which character they were voicing.

Hot lesbian romance

This is the steamiest of the Girl Games novels, packed with the most sex scenes. It’s an enemy-to-friends story with a solid plot, and I enjoyed how the other couples were woven into the narrative. I can't wait to read more from this author. The narrators did an incredible job, and the relationship development between Remy and Bella was fantastic.

Ms. Roe & the Girl Games Series will always be on BOTH of Santa’s list! They are quite nice and very naughty!

I highly recommend the series! AND that you read them in order, since the characters and stories build on each other. The duo narration is very good. This fantasy series keeps you guessing with lots of mysteries to solve. Book 3 is more cerebral and a bit less bloody, which I enjoyed, but of course our author did come up with an image at the end that’s the stuff of nightmares because she can’t behave herself for long! Be forewarned- this book’s creative and spicy romance may steam up your earbuds!

The best of the series

Really thought book 1 would be my favorite, but this one was quite ingenious with the runes and tech. An interesting concept with the games and jail break. Great read/listen!
