Story
Frances is a cool-headed and darkly observant young woman vaguely pursuing a career in writing while studying in Dublin. Her best friend and comrade-in-arms is the beautiful and endlessly self-possessed Bobbi. At a local poetry performance one night, Frances and Bobbi catch the eye of Melissa, a well-known photographer, and as the girls are then gradually drawn into Melissa's world, Frances is reluctantly impressed by the older woman's sophisticated home and tall, handsome husband, Nick.

Good book. Quick and fast dialogue. Not a lot of guessing going on here but will leave you with a question at the end… what was all this for?

Vulgar Language Throughout The Entire Story
Reviewed: 12-01-23
I’m using term story very lightly here… as there isn’t really a main focus on the storyline. This book is definitely more about the vulgar intimate scenes between the 2 consenting adults… also the age difference between the 2 main characters becomes weird after discussing their history. Main male character talks about his counteract like she is an object rather than a person and honestly I’m surprised a female author wrote this!
This just wasn’t my cup of tea and disappointed I listened to the raving reviews and spent my money on this. If you like the theme of 50SoG then you will most likely enjoy this.

The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

Story
Nina Dean is not especially bothered that she's single. She owns her own apartment, she's about to publish her second book, she has a great relationship with her ex-boyfriend, and enough friends to keep her social calendar full and her hangovers plentiful. And when she downloads a dating app, she does the seemingly impossible: She meets a great guy on her first date. Max is handsome and built like a lumberjack; he has floppy blond hair and a stable job. But more surprising than anything else, Nina and Max have chemistry.

It’s okay but it’s not the best

Part 1 really makes the main character seem awful and just judgmental of other women. Made me almost want to stop listening but then part 2 began and it picked up speed. You begin to understand why she is the way she is and realize her insecurities. She’s not written to be the best human being in the world, but pretty relatable to an extent. I probably would not recommend this to a friend just cause it’s a slow burn, nothing happens worth having a conversation about, and I think there are better books out there that share the same narrative.
Book isn’t funny or witty either - kind of just sad.

i passed on this book for a few months due to the negative reviews regarding the intimant details in some chapters but I finally took the plunge and got the audio book.
All I gotta say is yay - this was a great narration and good story (minus the infamous scene between the 2 main characters) but all of that aside, i think it’s fine and not as detailed as I’ve heard other audio books when it comes to intimacy. If you have seen the series then you already know what’s going to be in the book.

Nothing crazy special but overall cute. There are MULTIPLE sections in this book that go into detail about intimate moments so if that’s not your thing then I’d pass. Also, voice narration didn’t match main character which was the only thing bothering me! I’m not sure how old this character even is because she is written more youthful than the narrator.

what am I supposed to do with that ending
Reviewed: 10-11-22
good story and I think it made sense. it wrapped everything up except for the ending. what am I supposed to do with the fate of the main character? that gave me nothing for closer with either the main character or the murderer.
I think that type of ending only works in the cinemas OR if there is a promise of either a series or 2nd book which I don’t think I’ve heard of either. very unfortunate ending for a first book.

Story
Shadowvale isn’t your typical small town America. The sun never shines, the gates decide who enters, magic abounds, and every resident bears some kind of curse. Vampire Constantin Thibodeaux was cured of his sun "allergy" when he moved to Shadowvale. Now he runs the local bookstore, which is really just a sideline to filling his own library. Books, unlike people, are far more forgiving of his prickly nature. But he doesn’t care if people don’t like him. He is who he is. And he’s happy. Well, he’s content. Okay, he’s…fine.

sorry, but i cant wrap my head around either of these 2 characters... not to mention all of this for about 3 days of knowing each other? im gonna have to give this a 2 star overall... and can only hope the other characters created by Painter arent this ridiculous but i do enjoy the idea of this town overall. so im going to give this series one more shot with the next book. Hoping I dont have to listen to another story of toxic men and relationships!!!! majority of stars are all going to the narrator for this one!

Narrator sounds like he is reading slam poetry
Reviewed: 04-21-22
It took a lot of my patience to listen to this audible... the narrator does a LOT of voices in this book (some are very questionable and may be offensive) but the main voice he uses sounds like he is reading slam poetry. Some parts made me laugh at just how lame he made this story sound. I already invested to much time to quit the book once I realized how much I did not like it that I listened to the last hour of this book on speed 2.0x
On top of this sound, Scottoline made this book into multiple different stories? It's like the author couldn't decide what this book was really supposed to be. Also, SO MANY PRODUCT PLACEMENTS! Name brand and all!!!! A lot of details that do not need to be there, either.
If your absolutely interested in this story then it is probably better read on your own. I don't really know what audience this book is intended for but i would suggest passing on the Audible version.
