Publisher's summary

National Best Seller

Olivia Dade bursts onto the scene in this delightfully fun romantic comedy set in the world of fanfiction, in which a devoted fan goes on an unexpected date with her celebrity crush, who’s secretly posting fanfiction of his own.

Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. The world may know him as Aeneas, star of the biggest show on television, but fanfiction readers call him something else: Book!AeneasWouldNever. Marcus gets out his frustrations with the show through anonymous stories about the internet’s favorite couple, Aeneas and Lavinia. But if anyone discovered his online persona, he’d be finished in Hollywood.

April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s long hidden her fanfic and cosplay hobbies from her “real life” - but not anymore. When she dares to post her latest costume creation on Twitter, her plus-size take goes viral. And when Marcus asks her out to spite her internet critics, truth officially becomes stranger than fanfiction.

On their date, Marcus quickly realizes he wants more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. But when he discovers she’s Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to keep from her.

With love and Marcus’ career on the line, can the two of them stop hiding once and for all, or will a match made in fandom end up prematurely cancelled?

Meh. A Little Unrealistic.

I am a formerly fat woman. Like, life-long struggler with obesity. I am happily married and have had a fairly satisfying dating and sex life overall; however, as a fat woman, it is so far fetched to believe that not one, but TWO gorgeous actors/sex symbols are smitten by fat women. In the main storyline, Marcus is obsessed with April. And while it *could* and *does* happen, it's just not very realistic. My husband adores my body, so I'm positive there are men out there who do, but there's too much in this story that doesn't add up. Combine that with allusions to Marcus's best friend also falling for his fat assistant, Lauren, and suddenly I can't suspend reality long enough to get past it.
I did enjoy the overall plot with the fanfic and the fan-con elements. I think that was a clever way to intro these characters.
I wish I could rate this one higher bc I truly do appreciate the author writing about fat women in romance. She handles the issue with respect, which is nice. And she does celebrate the sexuality of fat women respectfully.
It just wasn't quite a hit for me.

Absolutely Stunning

I often shy away from books that have a plus size main character due to my own size. I am so glad I chose this story. April is gorgeous even when she isn’t feeling confident. Marcus is respectful despite his obvious lack of understanding of what it means to be plus sized. I felt recognized and found a lot of myself in April. Thank you!

Such a cute story!

I loved this listen. I loved it so much I'm getting the actual book too. The story is well crafted, and emotional, and the narrator is pleasant to listen to.

Not what I expected

I went into this book thinking it was going to be a cliche story line with the handsome guy rescuing and falling in love with the plus size girl. However, as much as this was part of the story it wasn't the main point. The main characters had depth and they felt real. The hero wasn't some macho male but rather human and beautiful. The heroine was kickass and also vulnerable and beautiful. This was a great read. The narrator did a great job too.

fluffy girl approved

loved it. when the female protagonist is a large girl who learns to love herself as she is and to not accept being loved conditionally. it was so sweet. a fan dream in the making. writing fanfiction and meeting the actors of your OTP. the story mixes and exposes Fandom and the toxicity that can exist in there as well as the well meaning toxic families we may possess.

Knocked me out

Well. I was not expecting this. While Spoiler Alert came highly recommended, I did not expect it to be such an excellent, and extremely emotional read. I don’t think that I have ever reviewed a book and given a content warning before. But I am going to now. As a woman who has spent her life battling her body and fatness and the shame around fatness and desperately trying to reconcile at all, Spoiler Alert hit me hard. For anyone who has ever been fat shamed, for anyone who has ever been a part of a fandom, this book is capital R Real. (OK, it’s also a fairytale with a Cinderella happy ending. But the depiction of fanfic writing and what it might mean to someone to write fanfiction is incredibly accurate.) I can’t remember the last time I yelled at a book because the emotions ran so high for me. But enough about me. This is clever, funny, unbelievably insightful and smart about fandom, and an all-around beautifully written book. I’m still reeling a little bit from having just finished it. Could not give this a higher recommendation.

I loved this book

I have been seeking out romance stories that feature women in larger sized bodies in an effort to challenge my internal monologue and this author did not disappoint. I only wish I had not read the other reviews. If you are prejudiced against larger women you are not required to read books about them. Really. No one hates fat women more than “formerly fat” women. The character development was complex, compassionate and tender. Romances are, shockingly, about romance and promise a happy ending. Again, if the reader finds this “predictable”, read a different genre. I am looking forward to reading this author’s other offerings.

Disappointing

I read and loved All the Feels. I was really exited to read more of Dade, but I think she can only write one book. Spoiler Alert IS All the Feels with different characters. I think if I’d read Spoiler Alert first then I’d be writing this review about All the Feels. It was a fine book though. Good to put on while you do other things. I don’t feel like I wasted a credit on it and I might let it play again if I’ve got nothing better going on. The narrator is excellent.

Big girls, you deserve much better

THERE IS NO PLOT! I gave up with two hours left and will ask for my credit back.

I love romance, but this is just DUMB.

good story about fat positivity (and delightful smut)

ive listened to this audiobook a few times over the years as a fan of well...fan fiction. the characters had strong arcs, lots of funny moments, and overall a cozy story thought it could've been a bit shorter without losing the quality romance plot. i'm not the biggest fan of the narrator, and prefer the narrator for book two of the series All The Feels.
