A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.

Boring

Super boring. Zero twists and nothing shocking. I kept waiting for a big reveal or at least something exciting to occur. Neither of this things ever happened. I’m shocked this book has so many good reviews. As a matter of fact I used a credit to awhile this book because of all of the good reviews. My advice is to save your credits. This one was a let down.

This book is so beautifully written. The subject matter being dark and gripping, is brought to life so vividly it felt as if I could see the colors and smell the smells. The performance equally as good. The narrator was haunting and believable. Highly recommend!

Awful book.
Reviewed: 10-18-22
I could not wait for this book to be over. The storyline was derivative of something out of Murder She Wrote only less exciting. No twists no surprises that were of consequence. I’d also urge the author to brush up on verb usage as there are noticeably multiple uses of the same verbs throughout the entire book. Can’t imagine why this book would ever get a good rating. Slow and unexciting to say the least. Don’t waste a credit!

Story
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

I enjoyed this book on many levels. My appreciation for the candor and rawness of Jennette’s writing and story is great. In many ways her story and this book have helped me start identifying relationships and patterns in need of address in my own life. So thank you Jennette. Thank you for having the courage and fortitude to write this book. By putting this out into the world you’ve helped me. I doubt I’m the only one.
The performance resonated with me because I connected with the way her thoughts when regarding herself were so quick and almost frantic. She read it as if she were just saying thoughts the exact way they ran through her head on any given day. That came across very honest in my opinion.
Do yourself a favor and give this a read. And thanks again Jennette. ❤️

Not bad but a little slow to start. It felt like a few chapters were just written as page fillers. I had almost given up on this book when the twist caught my attention around chapter 38. I’m glad I stuck with it. Also feels a little like there is room for a sequel which I would likely read. All in all i liked it.
