Story
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Good but not typical Scalzi
Reviewed: 11-02-24
Scalzi is a great off beat sci writer, his books are generally wonderful. This one is ok but not up to his usual standards. It is worth listening to. Amber the narrator is great and does a wonderful job, Will Weaton watch out.

Annie Bot was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner Doug. Designed to satisfy his emotional and physical needs, she has dinner ready for him every night, wears the pert outfits he orders for her, and adjusts her libido to suit his moods. True, she’s not the greatest at keeping Doug’s place spotless, but she’s trying to please him. She’s trying hard.

Reviewed: 10-08-24
After reading this book I look at ads for sex dolls (not to buy one) and while not in my life time but given technology it is definitely possible that by the next century men will be dating (owning) "girl robots" and girl will be dating (owning) boy robots (and yes boys might also date boy robots and vice versa) where the robot is similar to a human. The only objection is the book contemplates the robots having "feelings and emotions" similar to humans. It certainly gives one something to think about. This is a very thought provoking book. Ms. Araya does a great job of reading it,

As good as the Searchers ( the first book in the series)
Reviewed: 09-01-24
Another good book, well worth reading. If you haven’t read the Searchers , it would be better but not required to read that excellent book first. This is a murder mystery type book set in rural Ireland, focusing on a retired Chicago police detective and a 15 year old girl who he thinks of as his daughter. You won’t regret reading this book.

Story
“As Albert Einstein almost certainly never said, everyone is a genius—but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” So begins Katie Spalding’s spunky takedown of the Western canon, and how genius may not be as irrefutably great as we commonly understand. While most of us may never become Einstein, it may surprise you to learn that there’s probably a bunch of stuff you can do that Einstein couldn’t. And, as Spalding shows, the famous prodigies she explores here were quite odd by any definition.

Unfortunately the worst Jack Reacher
Reviewed: 12-26-23
I really enjoy the Jack Reacher novels and look forward to the the Fall when they are published. Unfortunately this one is not up to his usual standards. I am not sure if the dual writing is the issues or Lee just had a bad time writing this one. It has all the elements of a typical Reacher novel but they are just not put together well. Hopefully, the next novel will be up to the usual standards.
