About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

A string of mysterious deaths. A long-classified mission. A young MP with nothing to lose.

1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention.

That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

But office politics isn’t Reacher’s thing. Three questions quickly emerge: Who’s with him, who’s against him, and will the justice he dispenses be the official kind . . . or his own kind?

Lack of Reachers best attributes

This book did not really have Reacher as his earlier books. Felt like he was barely in the book and not the main character. Hard to follow storyline at times. I am a Jack Reacher fan, having read all of his writers stories (Lee Childs) no offense intended, but Reacher is best written by Lee alone. Look forward to another.

Just not that great

I have read every Reacher book, most twice. I love the series, I love the raw entertainment value of it. But I always admired that there was enough realistic details to make it compelling. This one didn’t have any of those details. I mean how many people were killed under guard? I thought maybe the twist was that they weren’t actually guarded. But they were and I guess all the guards were just sleeping every time, 7 times in a row… The story itself was amazing, and had so much potential, but then it just didn’t go anywhere. It was like a really long build up, and then they ran out of time so they just summed it up at the end. Also the book was begging for a surprise ending, but the end was no surprise… The book needed about 3 extra hours and a different ending. I’m always happy to read a Reacher book, but this was maybe my least favorite one. Scott Brick did a great job.

Five star book as always.

I absolutely love the Jack reacher series. I just wish the bush could be a little longer.

The performance does not enhance the story

I'm an avid reader of the Jack reacher series. just recently in the last few months decided to listen to all of them on audible. I anticipated this book couldn't wait to get it this October. before finishing the other books on audible. this is my first time listening to this narrator. Scott Brick is no Dick Hill. The narrator does not differentiate between characters. didn't know God rest his soul. was an absolute great narrator. why they decided to use somebody so dull and mundane to continue with these stories is beyond me. I'm looking at the various books that I still need to listen to and unfortunately there's about five prior to this one that all have Scott brick is the narrator and almost makes me want to think twice about listening to them. The story was a good story. some twists that were much appreciated. but doll and hard to listen to with this narrator.

Toxic red head

A long convoluted story about bad business and shameless behavior. The sisters are I.D.F. versions of Reacher (ruthless and smart)

Solid

Solid Jack Reacher story. Another great story with Jack Reacher doing what Jack Reacher does.

Another excellent Reacher Novel

I was pleasantly surprised by the time shift. Enjoyed the in service novels. “Reacher said nothing”

Pretty good

I love Lee Child. And I love Jack Reacher. I also love Scott Brick. Scott had big shoes to fill with the passing of Dick Hill (may he rest in peace), who was one of the best in capturing different personas for the characters. I found this version a little harder to follow than most - something I’m sure Scott will nail in the next one. Thanks for all the hard work.

Great story

I have loved Reacher for years, Hopefully this isn't the last time we get to learn about his early years in the military police.
