What a tragic and triumphant story. The resilience factors needed to survive were amazing. So happy for a dem happy ending. I know living with trauma will always be there but Emi seems to be able to navigate these struggles. Kuddos

Interesting insight into trauma and available treatments. He doesn’t pick a particular therapy but explores many and defines useful applications

I am forever fascinated with WWII from the personal side and military side and this combined both. The spy stories are so many and this was one I had never heard and I am so impressed with the bravery of the women in this group and Lise.

This book gave you a sense of what sheltered and unsheltered meant and each persons different interpretation of its function in life. Great story.

What a mesmerizing story. You are brought in on the first page and not let go until the last. A wonderful story

I usually. have no issue with books that skip around but this book lost me often in its flow. I love the trees themselves in the story but the characters were hard to track as the story started and even harder to keep up with as it went along. It did finally pull it back together in the end but didn't really save it for me.

I loved hearing this book in the authors voice and I loved the feeling of family, love, and the food that binds people. It is a story of love, loss, family, and food and it makes you feel for a lost community and for a desire to connect on her level as she did with her husband.
