Acerca de esta escucha

A deadly storm of violence sweeps across the United States....

One month after the North Korean attack, the United States continues to fall into anarchy. In Estes Park, Colorado, Police Chief Marcus Colton and tracker Sam "Raven" Spears work tirelessly to defend their hometown. But after a brutal coordinated attack, they realize it will take much more than roadblocks and a volunteer militia to protect their borders and keep their families safe.

Defense Secretary Charlize Montgomery has been reunited with her son, but his homecoming is short-lived due to the state of the FEMA survival centers around the country. She heads to the one in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her loyal bodyguard, Albert Randall. Outside the camp's walls, the city has descended into chaos, and desperate civilians will do anything to get inside. When Albert stays behind to rescue his sister, he is caught in the middle of a turf war between rival gangs.

In this lawless new world where the most ruthless thrive while innocents suffer, Colton, Raven, and Charlize are faced with their toughest challenges yet. One thing is certain - they won't be able to save everyone. Not with their humanity still intact.

Get a new narrator

While I really enjoy this series, and love the idea behind this potential real world disaster, the narrator leaves a lot to be desired.

Enemies, both old and new

This is the third book in the Trackers series by one of my favorite authors Nicholas Sansbury Smith. The story is set one month after the North Korean attack. Raven and the other survivors continue to work towards keeping Estes Park safe while Defense Secretary Charlize Montgomery struggles to stop the survival centers from being overrun.

Old enemies are still in play and new ones are emerging faster than the survivors may be able to deal with them.

I'm really loving this series and cannot wait for the fourth book, especially considering that this third book ended with much unfinished business.

I love this story

I love this storyline. it's so scary how this could actually become a reality and that's one of the things that makes this book so great. the narration was awesome made me feel like I was right there and of course the writing was incredible. now I cannot wait for trackers 4 to come out

Best Trackers entry so far

I've enjoyed each new installment of the Trackers series more than the last, and this was no exception. The story translates incredibly well to audio and will keep you on the edge of your seat with action throughout.

Absolutely Awesome

When reading a longer series like this – it’s easy to see “oh I still have 10 hours left” and hope that things are going to be packaged up nice and neat by the end of the book. What you forget as a blogger is that these books came out after months if not years – making the reader “suffer” between them. The Storm was the first book that ended that way in my eyes. Now, I’m reading it almost two years after it was released and I will be starting book four any moment now, but it ended and I thought “holy crap, I need to know what happens next”. That doesn’t happen to me all the time and when it does, it’s a sign of a great book and an even better series.

I can see now why this book and especially this series have an average of 4.5 stars on audible. It’s just an incredibly well written and immensely well thought out. Smith is able to write characters that I care about and bad guys that I hate. He’s able to make me genuinely mad at him, and then redeem himself in a chapter (no spoiler, but good lord was I mad/sad for about 5 minutes).

You’d think that by book three I would see plot twists coming – but Smith got me again (even after earlier in the book giving the potential twist away). He’s able to write books that absolutely stun me in the best way possible and The Storm was no different.

The Storm has some of the most harrowing moments in the series so far and we’re also starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The US isn’t recovering yet, but we find out near the very end how things might finally pick up again. Smith did his research and I think that the way he’s taking the book for his characters and for the overall arc was a brilliant decision and one that would really happen.

Overall, another home run for Smith and another well-narrated Pinchot book! I can’t say much more about it since I’ll spoil all the things!

The Storm

Raven and Colton are still trying to protect their home and loved ones in Estes Park Colorado, Charlize is finally reunited with her son only to leave again to try and help her bodyguard Al find his sister. But what all three find is much worst than can be imagined. While they might be able to save some, hard decisions will have to be made and they will have to be the ones to make them.

Out of the three books so far I think this was also the hardest one so far. There are so many wonderful (and a few not so wonderful) characters, and so much suspense and action you won't want to uncover your eyes, so maybe you should just get the audio narrated by Bronson Pinchot. This is a awesome audio Mr. Pinchot does a awesome job with all the voices, I really like his Raven, and makes you feel as you too are part of what is going on and there with everyone, only you don't have to eat the MRE's, woo hoo. It really is a great audio if you get the chance to try it out, if not the book is always waiting for you by the Creek.

Leaves You Wanting More

Would you listen to Trackers 3: The Storm again? Why?

Good people versus the Depraved. Nicholas continues to combine realistic situations in a fictional setting that could actually manifest itself.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely kept me wanting more...the cliffhanger is very effective.

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

Bronson has Raven down pat.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nicholas is very good at conveying human emotion that translates to the reader.

It keeps getting better

Can't wait to pick up the fourth installment of this series. Each book has been better than the last. Bronson does a phenomenal job of bringing the world and characters Smith has created to life. Highly recommend picking up this series if you have liked Bronson or Smith books in the past.
