Engaging But Recycled Take On EMPs

This story reminded me a lot of several other Audible titles covering EMP scenarios that were previously published. I’d add that it’s a little on the short side compared to those other books to spend an Audible credit on. That said, it’s been an engaging story and I’ll likely listen to the rest of the series. As usual, this narrator delivered a great performance.

Nice story

I really enjoyed listening. I thought it a pretty realistic version of events and people. It is a pretty tame book for its genre. People were overall decent with no mass amounts of violence, rape and cannibalism. It was perhaps a bit slow, but still engaging.

Narration was excellent.

the beginning has bouncing around on timelines and characters but it gets good and stays good.

I am finding this series a fun read so far. Like the characters. Not a lot of cursing. This is just the beginning of the apocalyptic tale, so we will see where it goes. I wish each book had more hours to it.

I'm hooked

I love post-apocalyptic books. This book follows a few characters' stories, and I'm particularly enjoying the Warren family. While pretty "prepared," there aren't the long boring discussions of ammunition that you sometimes find in other prepper books. I'm enjoying the look at the neighborhood and the interactions that take place there, which seem like they might be pretty realistic. The characterizations are great! Very well-developed personalities.

Narrator helps a lot. Not being one where China did it and we didn’t nuke them off the face of the earth was even better.

I love any and every thing by Tom Abrahams and when you throw Kevin Pierce in as narrator you definitely can’t go wrong!
This was a great start to what I am sure is going to be an amazing series. Jack does what he must to keep his family alive. Luckily he’s had friends who influenced him to be prepared.
