Excellent

Good character development. I particularly enjoyed the detail provided in the narrative regarding equipment and tactics. Especially enjoyable was the historical references to military battles in the past that contributed to their success or defeat. lots of good twists and turns in the plot. It was refreshing to read a book series without gratuitous profanity. The authors' faith in a higher power is apparent, however, the book does not come across as preachy or overtly spiritual. I have read many books of this genre and highly recommend this author.

Fantastic Page Turner

I know there are a lot of post-apocalyptic books out available to listen to and you might think this is one of them, but it is not!! The box set makes for a really compelling story that fits into today's news cycle. There is a lot of very good prepper information that made me want to get really for the any unknown disaster that might happen. The character's are well developed and could not stop reading. This would be a great TV series or movie. Well, worth the purchase.

So close to home

This was entertaining for sure but it also served as real look at what's possible in the years to come. It's got me considering what I can be doing right now to survive a similar situation.

Really liked the box set capturing the entire saga from beginning to end. Many twists in turns from the overall story line down to the individual characters.

main character isn't authentic

The overall story and performance are great. But the main guy is like a damn savant. The fact that anything above a captain would take him that seriously as a LT is a joke and judging by the unit talk I also assume he is National Guard. It seems like he is portrayed as the way a 2nd LT in a guard unit would think of himself. Infallible, Rambo and the smartest guy on the planet. This guy is right to the point of annoyance and he also must have a few phds in history. Other than him the book rocked

Compelling

Compelling story of a man who becomes a modern Ulysses S Grant and helps implement effective and aggressive strategies that save his family, his community and the nation from a combined attack from Russia, China and North Korea. I lived his knowledge of war history and how he leveraged that to save America.

Riveting Story

This is a fast moving, highly entertaining apocalyptic story. Although nearly 25 hours long, it held my interest so that I hated to stop listening. The story has a very strong conservative bias, which might offend some listeners.
