Learn the scientific benefits of positivism!

Sometimes it's easiest to look for the worst in every situation - our brains have evolved to scan for problems in order to help avoid them. But you can transcend this natural negativity - if you know how.

The Science of Positivity teaches you how cynical thought habits are formed and how you can rewire yourself to go beyond them. Neurochemical expert Loretta Graziano Breuning, PhD, empowers you to transcend negativity by creating new thought habits. You'll learn simple, practical actions you can take to shift your thinking to a way that causes your brain to reward optimism with the release of happy chemicals. You can even permanently replace cynical thought patterns with realistic and optimistic thoughts.

In just minutes a day for six weeks, you will build new pathways to see the world in new ways. Frustration is an inevitable part of life, but rather than using cynicism to manage frustration, you can rewire your brain to get beyond it.

The book explains anthropological and chemical reasons on why we choose to see things in a negative light; which it was wonderful at explaining if that is what you are looking for. It explains chemical reactions within the body and hard wired reason to explain why we choose the paths we do when viewing situations.

The advise that was given was to observe and make note of three things per day that were positive. Do this for 20 days to start a habit. If you miss a day you must start the 20 days again.

The content of the book is great, but the narrator sounds like a robot that drolls you to sleep. I wanted to stay positive, and keep the message in mind while listening, but found that I often would be bored because the voice just wasn't upbeat and energetic. It felt like a dull science teacher was reading from this book, which is a shame because it has a wealth of information.

Definitely the Science, but lacks humanity

This book details why certain behaviors, that are not optimal in modern life, occur. These behaviors cause a chemical response that can sooth in the short run but can cause problems in the long run. The book shows how the release of positive brain chemicals can be triggered by optimal behaviors through a retraining process.

It’s a such shame that the robotic voice ruins the experience of reading this book. I would recommend reading the book instead.

Great insights but the narration is not from a human

Overall, I think this book had some interesting and helpful points. The narration was like listening to Alexa or Google Voice read, except slower.

The narration killed it for me

I find this topic interesting and wanted to love this book. The tone and narration of first 5 chapters are really about negativity and pessimism. So much so that I had to give up. The writing and narration are very, very dry.

Should be called the Science of Negativity

Yep. Pretty much sums up this book… Coming from a “cynic”… Lower your expectations in life and you’re be happier!Lol. Found it a bit repetitive.

Just lower your expectations

The reader sounded automated and I couldn’t handle listening to it. It’s a fail for me. Also way too much Contant to describe what could’ve been described in half the time of what I heard. Really just could not get past the automated voice. Was so irritating

Fail
