Dawn of Fire Book 6

The zealous Black Templars and the Order of Our Martyred Lady hold a shrine world against the Death Guard – a guttering light in the darkness.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Marc Collins shows us how desperate the fight can get in the swirl of the Indomitus Crusade. Every world defended is worthy of celebration, no matter the cost.

THE STORY

The Indomitus Crusade burns across the stars, while new threats emerge to challenge the Imperium's resurgence.

As the Kingdom of Iron is secured and the Primarch Reborn's thoughts turn to future salients, the Arch-enemy strikes back against the Indomitus Crusade's forces. The shrine worlds of the Golden Chain are all but broken, and only Velua remains defiant. Canoness Irinya of the Order of Our Martyred Lady and Champion Gaheris of the Black Templars hold the line, fighting against the plague-ridden cultists reducing the planet to anarchy.

While the war rages on and the true enemy makes itself known, the fate of Velua and the wider crusade may rest upon the shoulders of another of the Imperial Regent's agents: the disgraced Rogue Trader Katla Helvintr. Heroes rise and worlds fall, and only the light of faith will guide the warriors of the Imperium to their destiny.

The Adepta Sororitas have some of the most fun and messed up lore in the 40k universe, so reading about them is always a joy. This book stays on that track and we get a great look at Martyrs, Battle Sisters, and even some good ol' Arco-Flagellants. What a joyous, horrendous group the latter is. Overall, from a plot standpoint this book does not seem to add a ton in the grand scheme, which appears to be a theme in these middle books of the series, but you can tell that the authors are working towards something by this point. Listen to it and enjoy the beautiful voice of John Banks.

Good story, especially for the Sororitas

The writing and character development was as good as always and the story wasnt bad. Just didn’t capture my interest like other 40k books have. I have a long drive into work and listen a LOT. This book just didnt hold my interest and i found my self listening to others after 20mins of this one.

Hard to get into

In general I liked this. The voice actor does a great job. The story is in between “just under good and maybe just over it for others.” Not a fan of having a golden warrior dying in the book again. Also it would be nice to see other enemies. I’m very tired of the plague marines/ultra marines in general. Give me an Imotekh the Stormlord book or someone else in these arks.

I enjoyed it

It’s a slow start. But once you get into it, it’s an amazing story. By the end you don’t want to stop listening

Slow Starter

I don't know what it was in particular, but I literally just finished and I couldn't really tell you what this was about. it's just not that engaging or interesting, which is a shame for the series. there's a few neat moments and the narration is good quality, but overall an unimportant and forgettable addition to the DoF line

Not memorable or engaging

definitely the poorest installment in the series so far. story was not engaging. a lot of the characters i want to hear about don't get mentioned. only bright side was seeing the death guard in action.

least so far

it started off kinda slow, with just progress of the current wars in this book.
but then toward the last quarter of the book it started to ramp up. it made the previous 3/4 worth it 👍
iøthe nurgle descriptions were pleasant as always 👌

slow burn that ends in a conflagration. in a good way

this entry in the dawn of fire series just makes no sense. it has no connection with the other main story plots that are currently ongoing with in the series. the characters are all insane. religious people which I do understand is a lot of Warhammer but in this case all of them are just boring skip this book you are not missing anything .

why?

Like the last book, this one seems like filler. Luckily, the performance was fantastic. The story was Okey.

It's Okey.

The story was very interesting and narrated well. However, I have to say the ending was disappointing. It just sort of ends because it needs to, you know?

The epilogue leaves a lot to be desired
