THE ORIGINAL NOVEL THAT INSPIRED THE CULT CLASSIC FILM BY SATOSHI KON
Kirigoe Mima is in the third year of her career as a pure and innocent pop idol. Feeling like something big needs to change, she plans to give her image a major update. When the new Mima is revealed--complete with a sexy outfit and a risque photo book--one of her most obsessive fans refuses to accept her transformation. To restore Mima to the innocent girl of her debut, he puts a terrifying plan to action that throws her life into chaos and mortal peril.

Overall, the antagonist stood out to me most. The unhinged nature makes her compelling story.

What's here isn't "bad" but I really can't convince myself to say it's good either. The Characters are all present from the film you may be familiar with but this is much more of a very shallow slasher film styled story than a deep psychological thriller like the movie. I'd say this is much more shocking and gruesome, dealing with what's basically "Buffalo Bill vs Mima The Pop Idol", but frankly what was shown in the film is so much more impactful because of the restraint shown. We could infer so much about the Stalker in the film, where here he is straight up Molesting Children and wiping his Semen onto TVs as he watches Mima..
I just cannot recommend this in good faith if you're coming here from watching the film and trust me that is the LAST thing I want to say about a book I was very excited to finally read.
Nothing like the Film, Very Disappointing
