It turns out that this can be one of the worst decisions that you'll ever make. For you see, if you ignore your IT manager career, there is a very good chance that everyone else will ignore it also. Time will pass and one day you'll look around and discover that you are right where you were a long time ago - nothing has changed!
Instead, take charge of your career! How fast your career advances will be based on your personal performance and how well your team performs. In order to manage your career, you are going to have to take charge of both of these items.
The good news is that it's not all that hard to do. There are several steps, like finding a mentor, which will speed you on your way to your next promotion. Take your time and carefully read each of the chapters in this book to get hints on what steps you need to start taking today in order to take charge of your career.
Keep in mind that in this whole entire world, you are the person who is the most interested in you being successful. That means that you need to step up and accept responsibility for your career.
