Xander:

Being a career hotshot, a wildland firefighter, is all I've ever known. It's my greatest passion. This job is dangerous, and after watching my parents' marriage fail because of it, I knew long ago I'd never be a relationship kinda guy.

All of that changes when my best friend moves his recently widowed—and pregnant—younger sister and her two kids in next door. I've been crazy about Teddy for years. So when I happen to assist in an unexpected emergency home birth for her new baby, I find myself spending more and more time near her and her kids. Teddy's heart is locked up like Fort Knox after losing her husband, and breaking down her defenses is damn near impossible...but I want to show her that I'm here to stay. For all of them.

As superintendent, my duty to my crew has always been my priority. But with Teddy's heart on the line, can I give up the only life I've ever known? Or am I doomed to be honor bound and lose the only woman I've ever loved?

LISTEN TO THIS AUDIO!!! PHEW! I just knew that I would be feral once I got to hear Xander say “Mama” & I was not wrong! I looooved this audio & it took Xander & Teddy to a whole new level of favorites! Aiden Snow & Vanessa Edwin are two of my favorite narrators & they absolutely owned this story! All the emotions, heartbreak, chemistry, love, & everything in between, it was so well done & they were truly incredible at bringing these characters to life!

Story Review: XANDER MF'IN MACOMB?! Like this man came out of left field at me and GOOD LAWD!! I AM SAT FOR HIM!

Mkay, this one started out with me crying, and if you know me (my reviews), if I cry, it's almost an immediate 5 star lol. I love the emotional ones and this one is extremely emotional! I felt for Xander and his grief, but MAN! Teddy's grief and experiences hit me square in the heart and tugged at every heartstring I have! I feel both of their grief and how they deal is so well done!

Teddy is so relatable as a mom who is struggling with her confidence and finding herself outside of being a mom, & she is one of my favorite FMCs of the year. Her self esteem and confidence, along with her coping, over the course of the story is fantastic! Also, I love her relationship with Violet & Scottie!

Now Xander....SIR! I don't know what kind of narcotics Danielle put in his character but DAMN! The BDE & Daddy energy is STRONG! The man made me melllllllllt! I wanted to throat punch him about twice (hahaha!), but then he would call Teddy "Mama" and all is forgiven...PHEW!

In all seriousness, this one was fantastic and I will 100% be rereading & listening, along with the first two in this collection, again!

This series is a new comfort read! And Honor blew me away!

Xander and Teddy were always end game, everyone saw it. Even her past?! MIL saw it before her son passed away. Teddy and her previous husband had been together since HS, he tragically died in an accident while out on call. Teddy moves closer to her brother while pregnant with baby number 3 with Logan. Teddy is one hell of a mother. To lose a husband while pregnant I could never imagine. Xander has always been in love with Teddy, but never expressed any interest because he’s a total green flag angel baby! But with the loss of Logan he steps up to help her wherever she will let him. But feelings and attraction quickly grow. I mean the man delivered her baby on her bathroom floor from another man, and he still wanted her…baby if she didn’t hubby him up I would have in a heartbeat.

I see a lot of reviews who don’t like the fact she moved on so quickly after her husband’s death. After 15 years a yearish doesn’t seem that long especially only after a few months of giving birth. My thing is I probably would feel that way in real life. However, this author does a phenomenal job with this topic in my opinion. You see the struggle Teddy and Xander both go through on this topic. It’s raw and real. He doesn’t push her (typically), and she is going to therapy and processing everything. But the author wrote this relationship in a way we know they were always meant to be. Like Xander says he just had to wait for his time. In the end if Logan had not passed, I feel something else would/could have broken up the marriage. They could have divorced or something, but that can get nasty. With this plot line, he’s loved, cherished and remembered. This is just how it played out, to me Teddy moving on does not dampen his memory. His own mother told her she knew Teddy and Xander were meant for each other. And again Teddy is 31 a single mom of 3 and Xander is 42-43 never been married and wants a life with her and the kids. Time won’t change that for them. Why should they wait and draw it out. They are all happy including the kids, to me that’s what matters most!

Absolutely beautiful story and perfect end to an incredible series!

Beautiful and Romantic

I didn’t know Danielle Baker before picking up Honor, but she immediately won me over with her heartfelt writing and emotionally rich storytelling. This final book in the Sky Ridge Hotshots series is tender, deeply moving, and quietly powerful—proof that soft heroes and healing heroines make the best love stories. And if you’re into endearing nicknames like mama from a swoony, rugged hero? Prepare to melt. 🥵

The Story
Teddy is newly widowed, pregnant, and trying to hold it all together for her two kids. Moving in next to her brother should have felt safe—but she didn’t count on his best friend living next door too. Maddox, a fiercely loyal wildland firefighter, has spent years avoiding relationships after seeing how the job destroyed his parents’ marriage. But he’s always had a soft spot for Teddy.

When a surprise home birth throws them together (yes, that kind of scene!), their connection deepens fast. Teddy is cautious, her heart still bruised from loss. Maddox is steady, patient, and determined to show her that love—and family—can grow from the ashes.

Final Thoughts
Following the Sky Ridge Hotshots series has been an absolute delight, and Honor is the perfect send-off. It’s sweet. It’s raw. It’s beautifully written. And yes—it’s hot. Danielle Baker delivered a story full of heart and hope, with just the right touch of spice. I’m officially a fan

I swear this series has my whole heart. Just like in the previous books in the series, this one broaches the topic of grief and both the author and the narrators did an excellent job with it. One thing that sets this story apart from other books I've read with this topic was Dalton's pov on this. To hear an eight-year-old say how he's afraid of losing someone else was absolutely heartbreaking. And I must say Aiden Snow did a phenomenal job with this scene.

Xander and Teddy's relationship is complicated, to say the least. They both struggle with different, yet very valid, reasons that make them fight their feelings towards each other. But when they come together it's so passionate and beautiful and explosive.

I loved the way that they took care of each other. Loved the way that Xander was always there for Teddy when she needed it, even when she was adamant about not needing his help. Also, the way that Xander showed Teddy how perfect and beautiful she is was equally parts sweet and hot.

Another thing that I loved about this story was how, even though they were both dealing with grief, their healing process was completely different for both of them.

Quote: “I need you like I need air, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure we have everything in this life that I can. I want every fùçƙing day with you. You are my forever, sweetheart. And I’m not waiting for that to start.”

“Don’t let yourself get so comfortable in this life that you miss out on something great.”

This book has everything. I’m a sucker for the single mom troupe. I’ll keep my eye out for more audiobooks from this author.
