A Win for Barrett Huang

I have been a part of CBT counseling my whole life until about three years ago, at which point I started studying DBT. DBT adds everything that CBT is missing. Barrett Huang does a great job of taking DBT concepts and applying them to daily life in order to help the reader manage stress, sleep better, overcome emotional fear, ...etc.

And of course Barrett chose the amazing narrator "Jeff Bower" to read this audiobook.

The narrator's voice is easy to listen to. The book is laid out pretty well, lots of relatable story, and it explained what PTSD is in way that is easy to understand, how it affects the brain, and what can lead to it. Then, the author explains DBT and how it can help manage PTSD symptoms with step-by-step exercises and tools for everyday life.

Overall, "DBT Workbook for PTSD" is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to manage their PTSD symptoms and improve their overall well-being. It's written well, easy to follow, and highly accessible. I totally recommend this audiobook to anyone dealing with PTSD or wanting to help someone who is.

Perfection

The narrator was very good, nice voice, he read at a good pace. The message in the book was superb. How to deal with DBT and how the author knew something was wrong with him before even being diagnozed professionally. It also leads back to not sitting in a situation because everybody else is comfortable doing it.

Mental illness is for everyone whether you know it or understands it. I reccommend everyone reads this book, it might give insights on some unexplained feelings, thoughts, thing you might have been experiencing.

Practical and helpful

This workbook was very well-done as an audiobook. You get valuable content in understanding PTSD and exercises where you can pause, do the activity, then proceed. I found this audiobook helpful for myself as a combat veteran.

Really helpful and easy to follow

I didn’t really know what to expect with this book but I’m so glad I gave it a shot. The author explains DBT in a way that actually makes sense and doesn’t feel overly clinical. There’s a good mix of information and exercises so it’s not just theory but stuff I can actually use. The audiobook format makes it even easier to digest since I can listen while doing other things. Some parts felt a little repetitive but honestly that just helped the key points stick. Definitely worth it if you’re looking for practical tools to work through PTSD.
