Blackout

I liked this book.It was good,not great.It's a story of moonshiners and an emp.There are always bad men and militia.Ended much too abruptly,but then it is book 1.Kevin Pierce was the perfect narrator.I was given this book by the narrator,author or publisher free for an honest review.

I am now a Craven fan. Looking forward to book two

Fantastic adventure

Had a great time listening to this story. the characters are fun, excellent depiction of small town living. Kevin Pierce narrating is gold!

Good Post-Apocalyptic

I really enjoyed listening to this book it is good start of a new Post-Apocalyptic series. I loved the characters of Westley, his grandparents, Raider the dog, Jessica and deputy Dave.It is about a solar storm that affects these characters in a small town in Arkansas before West was to go to his teaching job. West and his old time nemesis Lance first does illegal bootlegging deal then get into it after the storm. Look forward to book 2 and great narration. Not over-the-top exciting but that's okay!

As the headline says, not too much really happens in this book (i.e., it's a pretty mild disaster scenario) but it was definitely an interesting listen. I feel like the pace and character building in this book worked out really well and it was a light and easy listen. I was actually surprised when I reached the end because it was over so quickly. My largest complaint is the last chapter; I didn't really like how it was handled and felt like it ended quite abruptly in an unsatisfying manner. Clearly it is setting up book 2 but it didn't sit well with me.

As usual, I have yet to be disappointed with another excellent narration by Kevin Pierce!

OMG! THE ENDING!!!

Absolutely a good book! I had to listen to the last chapter twice! I am not going to spoil it for anyone! Wow!

I want to make moonshine now

I loved the main character, Westley Flagg. He made moonshine making desirable. I even looked at what you could buy on Amazon to make your own moonshine...I know, I'm weird. I love his Grandpa and Grandma and their bickering. I especially like how the book shows that a group is better than loner survivalists. I can't think of a thing that I didn't like.

Very enjoyable

Really liked the characters and story line. I listened to this in 2 days and didn’t want to stop. Another great classic by Boyd Craven III. Kevin Pierce is still the best Narrator around.

What I expected from this author

This was another good book from Boyd Craven III. I have read several of his books and this one did not disappoint. What I like about his books is that I learn something from just about every one. This one was interesting because of all the information about making corn whisky. It was a good back to set up a new series. I can not wait on the next one.
