In book 3 of the Sutter Lake series, Forrest Officer, Tracker, and womanizer, Tuck, discovers romantic feelings for his best friend’s little sister he has known all his life. Never believing he was good enough for “Little J” due to his father’s lifestyle and verbal abuse, he stays in the friend zone with Jensen. Until he can’t any longer.

This is another beautifully written and narrated story, a friends to lovers, single mother, with suspense included as in the other Sutter Lake Series books. Tuck not thinking himself worthy after his father’s years of verbal assaults in spite of all the good he does every day, including being a great role model to little Noah, is heartbreaking. Jensen not thinking she could ever trust her emotions after two disastrous relationships, working herself to death to hide her loneliness, is emotionally heart wrenching. They are exactly what the other needs. They just need to recognize that.

It all makes for an absolute must listen.

Small Town Romantic Suspense Gold!

Catherine Cowles is among the best authors of contemporary romantic suspense. Each of these books is well worth the credit,,,to get three for one is an amazing deal. Stellar narration!

The characters.

Loved all three stories. My favorite was the Tucker and Jensen story. Great story with charm and humor.

Good story

Liked the characters and story. Liked the angst but wished there was more groveling. Can understand in my head why the hero makes certain decisions but in my heart wanted a bit more before heroine accepted him back. Resolution with father was unrealistic. Skipped through a lot of the sex scene, Too many of those.

New author for me -

I've enjoyed this box set. In the first book I struggled in adjusting the speed. The male narrator ran all his words together whereas the female spoke slowly. Either I adjusted or the guy stopped running his words together. The only thing that took away from the books is in each book the main female character is kidnapped. Unlikely that on three occasions women who knew each other were kidnapped at different times. I will definitely listen to more books from this author and hope there won't be more kidnappings.

Such a great set of books!

I loved all of them! And three books for the price of one audiobook is such a great deal. Catherine Cowles is a favorite author of mine and these books did not disappoint. I highly recommend!

One word ruined the male character

In Beautifully Broken Life, the male main character was supposed to be from a small town in Georgia, but he pronounced pecan as “pee-can.” That ain’t how we say it… it’s “puh-kahn.”

In Beautifully Broken Spirit, the male main character pronounced Oregon as “or-gone” instead of “or-gen” and that bothered me.

Sweet and enjoyable

Great stories. I listened to all three in a row and they got a little predictable but still enjoyable.

These first 3 books of the Sutter Lake series are written and performed to perfection.

I listened to this whole thing in a few day because I didn't want to listen to anything else.

Catherine swept me away. I cried. She writes romantic suspense with a whole lot of heart and a touch of spice perfectly.

She is my new favorite!
