Good Clean Western.

I haven't found a William W Johnstone and J A Johnstone series that I didn't like. Just as good as the Duff MacCallister and the PearlyGates stories.

I like chuckwagon beans

I enjoyed this book. I think it's time Dewey should give into the female attention he's been getting. He's to much a choir boy. This was a good cattle drive book and good people he hooked up with. Great ending.

great listen a little shart though. the reader was great the book and reader kept it entertaining.

Engrossing

This is book three of the Chuckwagon Series. This historical fiction series is well written and researched. What started me reading the series was the twist of having the hero as cook on a trail drive.

The book attempts to portray life on the cattle drive. In this issue, Johnstone tells of the problems of the cattle drive on the Texas to Montana trail which partly uses the Bozeman Trail. The story is paced with lots of action and even has some recipes. I am looking forward to the next installment.

The book is nine hours and forty-six minutes. Danny Campbell does a great job narrating the series. Campbell is a classically trained actor and audiobook narrator. He has won multiple Audiofile Earphone Awards and was Audiofile’s Best Narrator of 2017.

I feel a connection

My Great Grandmother was a Chuckwagon cook on William “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s TE
Ranch located to the South West of Cody 120 years ago. By that time the cattle drives were long gone but Chuck wagon cooking remained. She died 60 years ago but I remember her stories. The cooking aspect of this western speaks of the stories she told a 12 year old. If you wish to recreate what this Might have been prepared on the trail check out the Marlboro Man Chuckwagon cook book series. There are dam good biscuit recipes.
