Historia
His passport read Giovanni Rossi. But decades ago, during the Urban Wars, he was part of a small, secret organization called The Twelve. Responding to an urgent summons from an old compatriot, he landed in New York and eased into the waiting car. And died within minutes… Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds the Rossi case frustrating. She’s got an elderly victim who’d just arrived from Rome; a widow who knows nothing about why he’d left; an as-yet unidentifiable weapon; and zero results on facial recognition.

Historia
The police never notice the small detail in the background of a police photograph of an abandoned car. A detail that tells Detective Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte plainly that the mysterious disappearance of Luke Marks near Windee Station is anything but accidental. Why had Luke Marks driven specially out to Windee? Had he been murdered or had he, as the local police believed, wandered away from his car and been overwhelmed in a dust-storm? Bony feels the answers lie somewhere in the sands of Windee.

Read and enjoyed
Revisado: 12-28-24
I’ve read this many times and enjoyed it. I understand the difference in culture. It is well written and gives a good picture of Australia many years ago.. I have actually read this book and print and now have it in Audible well worth the money.

Historia
Maisie Dobbs got her start as a maid in an aristocratic London household when she was thirteen. Her employer, suffragette Lady Rowan Compton, soon became her patron, taking the remarkably bright youngster under her wing. Lady Rowan’s friend, Maurice Blanche, often retained as an investigator by the European elite, recognized Maisie’s intuitive gifts. The outbreak of war changed everything. Ten years after the Armistice, in the spring of 1929, Maisie sets out on her own as a private investigator, one who has learned that coincidences are meaningful, and truth elusive.

ARTIFICIAL VOICE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Revisado: 05-25-24
The narration is terrible. Using a black AI voice for 19th century England is just stupid. The mispronunciation s are jarring too. Someone actually listen AND CORRECT especially words like read that have different meanings based on pronunciation. The writing itself improves as the author continues to write but he needs to remember there are few Holmes novellas. Most of his stories could do with some condensing.

Places in Los Angeles that are forever gone or changed. Read this is the 90’s and heard again in 24. Very exciting and intricate tale of Hollywood intertwined with the early picture industry and the Rat God. Well worth the read.

Holmes is back and…the game is still afoot! The year is 1899 and Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are at home at 221B Baker Street as London endures its coldest winter in memory. Then comes a telegram from Sir Henry Baskerville, Baronet, filled with fearful premonitions and a supposed sighting of the ghost of Jack Stapleton, the evil mastermind behind “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, upon the moor. This is followed immediately by reports declaring the death of the Devonshire Baronet in a “tragic accident”. Were Sir Henry’s words to Holmes and Watson mere hysteria? Was the ...

Virtual voice will never be a favorite and I avoid the female and black virtual voices because they grate on my ear. But hey it’s free and I’ll listen to the male virtual voice. The mispronunciations still bother me.
