A book written for the fans

This book is a wonderful tribute to Sommerset’s backstory, in my opinion. I really enjoyed the reveal more about his service, his wife and warrior friends. I look forward to the next book. Narration was excellent as always.

Loved it!

Loved the development of the characters , especially Peabody. Left me ready for the next one.

Fresh idea for a story

I love getting more background into the community in Eve Dallas’ world. This was a great deep dive. As usually the best performance in audible for capturing the voices! I love these books for the narration!!!!

Personal Case

I love the relationship of Eve and Somerset. I love that she can’t say it out loud but the importance of Somerset in her life is felt bone deep. Another great book.

Classic In Death!

The writing here is what put this series on the map. Excellent storytelling. Nary a soapbox in sight - really good listen.

I liked the intrigue of spy craft.

I didn’t like the part about the little boy being kidnapped. I’m glad he wasn’t killed off, and was rescued.

Summerset background at last.

The background story alone made this a must read, but the author did an amazing job developing several characters' stories to a new future. In the previous book, I thought that Eve's tone was more, well, reasonable. She explained herself more. Before this book, I couldn't ever see her actually becoming a captain. I can now. It was great seeing the leadership developing more in her bullpen. Her past didn't seem to bind her so tightly. She was a lot more comfortable in her skin. This is simply an around great book.

FANTASTIC !!!!! best of the series without a doubt

I found this series when there was 30 books. I started from the beginning and read/listened to all of them back to back. I've enjoyed them all but this one IS THE BEST !!! 5 stars is not enough. I absolutely loved this book and The Twelve. Susan Ericksen is ALWAYS really great but she is OUTSTANDING in this book.
I'll obviously continue to read this series (already pre-ordered the next one due in September 2025) but this one will be hard to beat.

And she does it again!!!

Well, I hate that I finished it as I have to wait until September for my next “IN DEATH” fix! Awesome book. Miss Mavis and all of the progress on the HOUSE. When will #3 arrive?

Pleasurably surprised.

It was a very interesting story. Unlike others I have read her book 2 or 3 times waiting for new releases, the last three books along with this one is unlike the older books. However very good.
