Publisher's summary

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

In Kylie Scott's Lick, one thing is certain: being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

This audiobook includes an excerpt from the first book in Kylie Scott's new Dive Bar series, Dirty.

Nothing can prepare you.

Within the first 40 minutes of this audio I was chuckling and laughing hard. Needless to say I kept going for the entire book. Very few authors get me so caught up in a book that I just want more so this was a nice bonus. I shall definitely be searching for more Kylie Scott books. I think Andi Arndt was perfect for this book. The combination of author and narrator is a big deal for me. I would rather read text than listen to a horrible narration. I will definitely be trying other books narrated by Andie Arndt as well. I am sure this will be a book I can listen to over again on those days when I can't find anything I like on audible!

Narration was ok..

Corny and predictable

I was really hoping for this book to be a fun listen but it really fell short for me. I found the story to be cheesy, generic, and predictable. Andi Arndt did do a decent read of the book though. I'm really bummed I wasted a point on this book. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone I personally know.

She was great!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole thing was wow!

Any additional comments?

Make him Suffer!

Any additional comments?

Narration - Andi Arndt - Really Good!

She has a fresh young voice and her males are sultry!

Loved this book. Before I was even done, I was already shopping the rest of the series. It's light and sweet with just the right amount of angst for me. Some authors allow the break-up/make-up to happen too quickly, but not so here. Make him suffer a little! (ha)

It's a keeper!

Better than expected!

I am not sure what I expected but this book was good and the narrator was excellent. There was angst, but it wasn't over the top. The romance was good - each of the characters had their demons, but they seemed willing to work through them. I would recommend this book and am getting the next one in the series.

Typical romance novel, which is why I liked it.

Would you consider the audio edition of Lick to be better than the print version?

No, I liked the printed version better, even though the narration was great.

Any additional comments?

It was an easy listen, the story went exactly as you would expect and I liked it.

So, congratulations. You're married to a rock star

I found this book on my Audible account recommends when I was looking for a Rockstar Romance to listen to this past week. I wanted to start the new year off with a bang and Rockstars are known for that. I just found myself in the mood for one and boy did I find ONE! Kylie Scott was an author I had never read before but I will soon be getting all of her books (*hint* people who are still looking for Christmas presents for me). Cover looked interesting while the Title made me laugh out loud. Lick — really was this a nickname, action what? I was hooked and SOOO glad I did purchase this story. Andi Arndt’s narration made this a wonderful listen adding so much depth to the story. There were so MANY times I was tempted to pause the story and jump to the end because I was so worried on what would happen to the two lovebirds and even the rest of the band. But after finally just locking my phone’s lock screen from myself I sat back and enjoyed the rocking ride!

The heroine of the story was Evelyn Thomas who went to Las Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday then woke up on the bathroom floor with the mother of all hangovers and a King Kong size ROCK (cause it deserves all caps) on her hand with a half naked tattooed man (can someone please send one to my room) speaking of their marriage and how they would live. Who wouldn’t wonder what the heck did I do last night? Answer Alcohol lots of Alcohol. Ev is a little naive but not stupid as she struggles to fit in with David’s world full of glitz, glamour, paparazzi and scandal (boy is that scandal a doozie of one). We all know Vegas, Alcohol, Rockstar, Tattoos and Weddings never mix but they do lead to wonderful stories. Ev had curves lived life like a normal person with a take no crap kind of attitude not the boring blonde stick figures. Ev stuck in “The Plan” (LOL you will find out) with her parents finally starts to remember some of what actually happened in Vegas and she doesn’t want it to stay in Vegas. Neither would I if I was in those shoes!

The hero of the story was David Ferris, the lead guitarist of hit rock band Stage Dive, who wanted to try to make their quickie Vegas marriage work thinking he had found someone who would treat him like a normal man. He was so impressed with the honesty of Ev and soon the two were trying to really make a go of it and that is when the steamy scenes started. There is more than meets the eye to David who is a good guy at heart with a very public life and with a slight anger issue (you will find out why when you read remember I try to not list any spoilers). David loves his band members and has gone out of his way for them.

So many other characters were introduced and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series plays out. (Snicker PLAY is the next in the series) Mal, Jimmy, and Ben the rest of Stage Dive are wonderful additions to the story and I hope their stories are just and breathtaking and heart warming.

One of my favorite scenes was this one:
“We were in the gondolas at The Venetian. You said you couldn’t swim, that I’d have to save you if we capsized.”
His Adam’s apple jumped. “Yeah.”
“I was terrified for you.”
“I know. You hung onto me so tight I could barely breathe.”
I drew back so I could see his face.
“Why do you think we stayed on them for so long?” he asked. “You were practically sitting in my lap.”
“Can you swim?”
He laughed quietly. “Of course I can swim. I don’t even think the water was that deep.”
“It was all a ruse. You’re tricky, David Ferris.”
“And you’re funny, Evelyn Thomas.” His face relaxed, his eyes softening again.”

Ms. Scott has the ability to write inner dialog like no body’s business. I recommend this story to all my friends (they hate when I start buzzing them with new book series cause they always get hooked). This story went from a great start to awesome while being light-hearted and deeply passionate pure rocker perfection. I almost got in trouble at work cause I was snickering to myself as I listened and worked. So before you start this listen or read whichever you prefer, clear your schedule (I learned that the hard way I couldn’t put it down and I started it on my drive to work), order your take out next, give the kids the remote and lock your self some where comfortable where you can then safely hide for a few hours. Where Ms. Scott can make everyone believe and cheer for this touching, tender, heartbreaking, passionate, romantic, captivating, hot love story. Now please ignore me as I dash over to purchase the next book in the series Play cause I found out it is Mal’s story and I love MAL and I am sure you will too!
