Wallace D. Wattles was a metaphysician and motivational author in the New Thought tradition who wrote about various aspects of success, health, and fulfilment. His vision was of a complete human being who was healthy, purposeful, living in harmony with family and society, and wealthy enough to enjoy all that is good in life.

Frank Grouard was an army scout associated with many of the most notable events of the Indian Wars of the Great Plains. Grouard had lived among the Sioux for six years, first as a prisoner and later as a Sioux warrior. During this time he acquired an indepth knowledge of the Northwest. As a government scout, he served as an interpreter, performed despatches, and tracked war parties. Grouard was present at the battle of the Rosebud in 1876 where government forces were fought to a standstill by Crazy Horse.

The Lesser Key of Solomon is a “grimoire” or guide to magic, consisting of materials and texts from ancient sources. Parts of the content can be traced back to the 16th century when manuscripts like The Office of Spirits appeared and when occult researchers such as Cornelius Agrippa and Johannes Trithemius wrote about their discoveries. The Lesser Key of Solomon has seen several editions by various authors.

After accumulating a fortune on the stock exchange, Nicolas Darvas (1920-1977) documented his insights in the 1960 book How I Made 2,000,000 in the Stock Market. The book recounts the author's trading experiences from the 1950s to 1960 and explains his unique system of buying and selling stocks. Making the Man Who Can by Wallace D. Wattles, republished after Wattles' death as How to Promote Yourself, is a classic work of wisdom and a masterpiece of motivation. Wattles maintains that the source of all success is the spirit of faith and goodwill. Based on the concept of a powerful life, he discusses the source of power, the business attitude, thoughts that build, how to develop yourself, and how to promote yourself.

The Elements of Style is an American English writing style guide originally composed by William Strunk Jr. in 1918, and published by Harcourt in 1920, comprising eight elementary rules of usage, 10 elementary principles of composition, a few matters of form, a list of 49 words and expressions commonly misused, and a list of 57 words often misspelled. William Strunk concentrated on specific questions of usage, and the cultivation of good writing, with the recommendation "Make every word tell".

Nikola Tesla believed the universe was never bound to spiritual or natural laws, but is in essence a machine where we are but a mere part of. In this 1915 text Tesla applies the mechanical theory of life to the greater events of the time such as the war and the earthquake in Italy. He states that the man as a machine is joined in a universal wheelwork that feeds cosmic disturbances to our world and as a result introduces calamities that are, in the great scheme of things, not at all arbitrary but interconnected.

"How to Get What You Want" is an essay by the motivational author Wallace D Wattles. Wattles explains that getting what you want is success, and success is an effect that results from the application of a cause. Success is essentially the same in all spheres; the only difference is in the things that successful people want, but not in the nature or cause of success. Success is attainment, whether it results in the attainment of health, wealth, or position.
