Navigating a Left vs Right World

I was taking a walk with a friend. As we walked, she proceeded to share some concerns for the upcoming US election. She mentioned her fears and the issues that mattered to her. Once she had shared with me, my friend inquired about my thoughts. The conversation was thoughtful and meaningful. We both took the time to listen to the others concerns.

There were no raised voices and we are still friends. here is an inner conflict, within all us in this Left vs Right world. No matter what you may believe, we are torn. We all have different views, perspectives and life experiences. What are the most important causes to you in this broken world?

    THE OCEAN AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Our ocean is changing. With 70 percent of the planet covered in water, the seas are important drivers of the global climate. Yet increasing greenhouse gases from human activities are altering the ocean before our eyes. NASA and its partners are on a mission to find out more.

    *INJUSTICES*

Human trafficking, racial discrimination, gender equality, homelessness, harassment, child abuse, poverty — all of these social ills have earned a resurgence of attention as millennials have taken the vocal stage. They fight for equality in all its forms.l*
    EDUCATION

Children are struggling. Reading and math scores are at their lowest in decades, while mental illnesses, absenteeism, and bullying are on the rise. School teachers say they're battling to reach students — while facing their own problems of understaffing, low salaries, and scarce resources.

Fear-stricken communities cannot help a scared world; and it needs to be said that surely a fearful individual has never examined his or her defense. No one can blame humans for being afraid. It is inevitable, beyond the continuing times of crisis, terror and violence.

We are navigating a broken world. If we could channel our fear and listen to each other, we could have a conversation. If we could only make the effort and step into our neighbors’ shoes.

Unless I am at peace with myself, I cannot love and help my neighbor.
