In episode 5 of Scrub Sessions, Head of Music Therapy at The Royal Melbourne Hospital Dr Emma O'Brien OAM reconnects with some of the international healthcare workers to discuss their unique experiences in participating with the Scrub Choir Plus and the power of music.

Scrub Choir Plus received more than 1,000 submissions for its new, unique arrangement of two colossal classics, 'What a Wonderful World' (Thiele & Weiss, 1967) and 'Stand By Me' (King, Lieber & Stoller, 1960).

Thanks to our guests and friends from the UK's NHS Glenfield Hospital, nurse Mark Harding, and pharmacist Sarah Cooke, Norway's University Hospital Bergen Merethe Music Therapist Wolf Lindvall and Japan's Osaka City University Hospital Psychiatrist Professor Koko Inoue.

This special edition of Scrub Sessions concludes with Scrub Choir Plus recording 'What a Wonderful World & Stand by Me'.

Scrub Session Episode 4 is out now with Australian harpist, teacher, conductor and musical administrator Marshall McGuire.

Marshall shares his amazing musical journey including a wonderful performance of 'The Rainbow Connection' featuring Olivia O'Brien and Dr Emma O'Brien OAM.

Scrub Session Episode 3 is out now with Dr Sophie Payten (aka Gordi).

Sophie shares her highs and lows including a special performance of the Paul Kelly classic ‘When I met your Ma’ featuring members of the Scrub Choir.

In this week's episode of Scrub Sessions, Head Of Music Therapy Dr Emma O'Brien OAM and special guests, Australian country pop band 'Darlinghurst' discuss songwriting and their music journey thus far in addition to maintaining a positive approach during Victoria's lockdown.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s (RMH) Scrub Choir is back and proud to introduce Scrub Sessions!

The eight episode series features 20 minute virtual in-depth interviews and unplugged music jams hosted by Head of RMH Music Therapy, Dr Emma O’Brien OAM.

“These unique interviews will broaden our message of kindness to the community,” says Dr O’Brien. “Scrub Sessions are here to support our staff, patients and community through these difficult times.”

“What better way to lift each other’s mood than through music,” she added.

Every two weeks Dr O’Brien will be joined by musicians from all over the world discussing inspiration, wellbeing, and of course, music.
