For Episode 6 of the Talent or Tenacity Podcast, I have the honor of interviewing Dr. Jamie Cooper, Professor and Department Head of Kinesiology at The University of Georgia. Dr. Cooper and I have known each other for many years and collaborated on academic projects, worked with mutual client athletes, and trained many hours for triathlon together! Dr. Cooper's expertise is in Obesity, Clinical Nutrition, and Sports Nutrition. However, her background as a very competitive endurance athlete (veteran of marathons, Ironman triathlons, and ultra-marathons) gives her a unique skill set in working with athletes to improve and optimize their performance through effective fueling. In this episode we discuss some of the common pitfalls athletes experience in fueling, nutrition misinformation and how to determine what fueling strategy is right for you, and we delve deeply in CARBOHYDRATES.
