  • 87. Are Premier League referees corrupt? | Season 24/25, Episode 14
    Jan 27 2025

Welcome to a session of catharsis as we spend the first 20 minutes of this week's episode letting our frustration out at Michael Oliver's decision to send off Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly against Wolves last Saturday. After discussing the decision and the tackle itself, we move on to the question of if there is an issue of corruption amongst Premier League referees, or if the problem is just one of incompetence.

Once we have worked through our anger, we move on to discuss the penalty Everton won against Brighton at the weekend, Robert Sanchez's struggles in goal for Chelsea, and the Manchester United board's letter to fans that the club is at risk of a PSR breach. We round off the episode by giving our views on another difficult day for Ange Postecoglou after his side suffered defeat at home to Leicester, and if the new Champions League format has so far been a success.

  • 86. Is this the worst Manchester United side EVER? | Season 2024/25, Episode 13
    Jan 23 2025

On this episode of the TCF Sport podcast, we start by discussing Ruben Amorim's comments that his side is "the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United" following the club's defeat against Brighton at the weekend. We also ask if Manchester United fans will stick by Amorim regardless of how bad it gets and if the club should have ever got rid of David de Gea.

We then move on to a discuss a Manchester United legend turned manager: Ruud van Nistelrooy. Specifically, we give our views on his difficult start to life as Leicester boss, the Foxes now having lost their last 7 Premier League games in a row under his tenure.

After giving our praise to Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth for how they have performed this season, we then turn to a bit of transfer chat before finishing with our score predictions for this weekend's Premier League action.

  • 84. Controversial refereeing decisions and are United in a relegation battle? Season 2024/25, Episode 11
    Jan 7 2025

Happy New Year! For our first podcast of 2025, we start by analysing some of the controversial refereeing decisions in the Tottenham vs Newcastle and Brighton vs Arsenal games at the weekend. After letting out our anger at the penalty given against William Saliba, we turn to Arsenal's performance in the same game, also discussing our frustration at why it takes Arsenal players so long to take set pieces and if Mikel Arteta should persist with playing Thomas Partey at RB.

The middle part of the episode focuses on Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. On United, we discuss matters on the pitch, asking if their recent run of results mean the club is in a relegation battle. On Liverpool, we talk about events off the field, asking if the noise around the contracts of their three star players could derail their season. On Tottenham, we do a deep dive on issues both on the pitch and off the pitch, returning to Ange Postecoglou's reluctance to adapt his style of play and the club's transfer business under Daniel Levy.

The latter third of the episode focuses on talking points for 8 other Premier League clubs. To finish, we update our predictions given at the start of the season before turning to the promotion race in the Championship and Plymouth's decision to part ways with Wayne Rooney.

As ever, we hope you enjoy. Here's to another year of some excellent football and good content!

  • 83. Is Mikel Arteta still the right manager for Arsenal? | Season 24/25, Episode 10
    Dec 24 2024

It's the Christmas episode of the TCF Sport podcast! Fittingly, we begin by talking about the recent Premier League sackings, asking if both Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin deserved more time at Wolves and Southampton respectively. With Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche the only two English managers left in the Premier League, we also discuss why we as a country lack world class managers and debate who the best English managers in the game currently are.

We then turn to the Carabao Cup, giving our views on the recent Quarter-Finals before looking ahead to the Semi-Final ties. Discussion on Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool follows, covering another injury for Mason Mount and our thoughts on where Marcus Rashford should go, Cole Palmer's ability and if Chelsea are in a title race, and whether Liverpool should be looking to move Darwin Nunez on next Summer.

The final part of the episode focuses on Arsenal. As Mikel Arteta has now been in charge of the club for five years, we start by reviewing his time in charge so far. We then turn to the form of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli before debating how good Bukayo Saka actually is. We end our discussion of Arsenal with the question: is the club too reliant on set pieces?

Lastly, from both of us, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and New Year. Thank you for supporting the channel and the podcast so far, it means a great deal as we continue to grow and put ourselves out there. There will be more content to follow in 2025, so stay tuned!

  • 82. Is van Dijk the best CB the Premier League has ever seen? | Season 2024/25, Episode 9
    Dec 9 2024

Welcome back to the TCF Sport podcast! On this episode, we begin by discussing the news that Dan Ashworth has left his role as Sporting Director at Manchester United after just 5 months. Following this, we analyse Ruben Amorim's start to life in Manchester, focusing on the amount of rotation he has introduced between games and asking if he has been too critical of his players so far.

After that, we analyse a range of talking points at multiple clubs, from who should start up top for Crystal Palace to Brentford's form under Thomas Frank. We also give our thoughts on if some teams are trying to play out from the back too much at the moment (Southampton and Wolves, we're looking at you...).

The second half of the episode then turns to Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, with discussion on Jamie Carragher's view that van Dijk is the best Centre Back the Premier League has ever seen, if Manchester City are in need of a reset of their squad, and if Arsenal are the new Stoke City.

  • 81. Can David Coote referee in the Premier League again and is Harry Kane world class? - Season 2024/25, Episode 8
    Dec 3 2024

We're back after a few weeks away! On this week's episode, we start by discussing the fallout following the release of a video showing referee David Coote criticising Liverpool and their then manager Jurgen Klopp, asking the question: can he referee in the Premier League again?

Following a quick segment covering Gary Lineker's departure at Match of the Day, we then have the most heated debate in over two years of recording, disagreeing on whether Harry Kane is world class or not. It's definitely worth a listen as we both strongly disagree on the parameters each other use to define whether a player is world class.

The second half of the episode covers the main Premier League talking points since we last recorded, beginning with Leicester's sacking of Steve Cooper and subsequent appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
