  • Episode 60: Arthur Shawcross a.k.a. "The Genesee River Killer" Part 1
    Aug 23 2023

Hey, lovely listeners! Katie is bringing us a TWO PARTER! This story inspired Jack mother-truckin Olsen to write the book “The Misbegotten Son”.
Arthur Shawcross is in his 20s and living in Watertown, New York in the 1970s, just riding around on his bicycle and being a weirdo (not in a good way). His hobbies include terrorizing little kids and fishing.
When 10 year old Jack Blake, a boy he’s been known to take fishing disappears, the citizens of Watertown become concerned even if the police aren’t. Four months later and there’s still no sign of Jack when an 8 year old girl named Karen Hill goes missing. Arthur quickly gets police attention and it’s not long before he’s arrested.
This is only the beginning of Arthur’s reign of terror and he only becomes more sadistic and puzzling to psychiatrists over the years.
Thank you for listening and don’t miss part 2 because things get even more bonkers.

  • Episode 59: Alicia Kozak
    Aug 9 2023

Welcome back, loveliest listeners! This week’s episode takes us back to the early stages of the internet.
New Year’s Eve 2001, 13 year old Alicia Kozak snuck out of her family home in Pennsylvania to quickly visit with a 13 year old boy she met in an online chat room several months prior. However, she discovers too late that she had actually been talking to a grown man the whole time. After forcing Alicia into his car, he drives her hundreds of miles from her home to where he lives in Virginia and holds her captive.
Alicia became the first known victim of luring a child through the internet — something we are all very aware of now, but was virtually unheard of back then.

  • Episode 58: Shauna Howe
    Jul 26 2023

We’re back, lovelies, and we’ve missed you!

In this week’s new episode, Katie tells the heartbreaking story of 11 year old Shauna Howe. It was October 27, 1992 when Shauna was attending a Girl Scout Halloween party at a nursing home just a few blocks from where she lived in Oil City, Pennsylvania. When she doesn’t make it home, her mother calls the police to report her daughter missing.

Police do their best to find who is responsible for shattering the Howe family and terrifying the small community of Oil City. Shauna’s case becomes cold and years pass without any solid leads until a detective makes it his mission to finally solve the case.

This story is very hard to hear but Shauna’s family wants it to be told and they want her to be remembered.

As always, we appreciate your support ❤️

  • Episode 57: Lindsay Armstrong
    Jul 5 2023

    Welcome back, lovely listeners!

For this episode, Alex is taking us to Scotland. Lindsay was a sweet, bright and outgoing 16 year old on September 7, 2001. All that changed when she was  attacked by a 14 year old named Lee Don Bell.
When the trial started, Lindsay made the decision to testify in court. The experience was a traumatizing nightmare for her as she was forced to show the court the underwear she’d been wearing and had to answer questions from her attacker.
This case highlights the need to treat victims and survivors of SA with dignity, empathy, and respect. Lindsay was let down and was made to feel like she deserved what happened to her.  Luckily, there are people still fighting to protect victims and survivors, and trying to make sure what happened to Lindsay doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Thank you for listening, and we’ll be back July 19th.

  • Episode 56: Brandon Teena
    Jun 21 2023

    Welcome to another episode!

We’re nearing the end of Pride Month 2023 and Katie chose to cover the case of Brandon Teena. Assigned female at birth, Brandon knew from a young age he was a male. However, back in the 80’s and 90’s (and even in 2023 in some places) education regarding transgender individuals was lacking.

In 1993, Brandon moved from his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska to Falls City, Nebraska for a fresh start. Nobody knew he was assigned female at birth and he was finally able to be himself without judgment or hatred — until a Christmas Eve party that same year.

Not long after his 21st birthday, Brandon is assaulted at the party by people he thought were his friends as they stripped him to see what his genitals looked like. Everything that happened after that could have been prevented if the people in positions of power had treated him like a human.

Stay safe out there, lovelies. Thank you for listening.

    Happy Pride 🌈
