It doesn’t take long for sex workers begin going missing or found deceased and police realize they have a serious problem. Wrapping up this case, we finally get the answer (kind of) to “What the frick is Arthur’s deal?” and boy oh boy is it wild.

Arthur Shawcross is in his 20s and living in Watertown, New York in the 1970s, just riding around on his bicycle and being a weirdo (not in a good way). His hobbies include terrorizing little kids and fishing.
When 10 year old Jack Blake, a boy he’s been known to take fishing disappears, the citizens of Watertown become concerned even if the police aren’t. Four months later and there’s still no sign of Jack when an 8 year old girl named Karen Hill goes missing. Arthur quickly gets police attention and it’s not long before he’s arrested.
This is only the beginning of Arthur’s reign of terror and he only becomes more sadistic and puzzling to psychiatrists over the years.

After forcing Alicia into his car, he drives her hundreds of miles from her home to where he lives in Virginia and holds her captive. 
Alicia became the first known victim of luring a child through the internet — something we are all very aware of now, but was virtually unheard of back then.
