Episode 60: Arthur Shawcross a.k.a. "The Genesee River Killer" Part 1

  • Summary

  • Hey, lovely listeners! Katie is bringing us a TWO PARTER! This story inspired Jack mother-truckin Olsen to write the book “The Misbegotten Son”.
Arthur Shawcross is in his 20s and living in Watertown, New York in the 1970s, just riding around on his bicycle and being a weirdo (not in a good way). His hobbies include terrorizing little kids and fishing.
When 10 year old Jack Blake, a boy he’s been known to take fishing disappears, the citizens of Watertown become concerned even if the police aren’t. Four months later and there’s still no sign of Jack when an 8 year old girl named Karen Hill goes missing. Arthur quickly gets police attention and it’s not long before he’s arrested.
This is only the beginning of Arthur’s reign of terror and he only becomes more sadistic and puzzling to psychiatrists over the years.
Thank you for listening and don’t miss part 2 because things get even more bonkers.
