  • Running in the Summer, Spring Energy Gels, Friendship
    Jun 7 2024

What's up We talked a lot about how heat and running interact with each other. How to run, train, race, live, laugh, and love during the Summer months. Also sorry it's been a while. Hilton has put his corporate duties above those of being a podcast host/good friend. But as he reminded us; life is about financial stability NOT friendship. Will interrupted people just as much as usual.

  • Mind Your Miles Podcast | Strength vs. Speed
    May 11 2024

The eternal debate continues. What's more important, strength or speed?

The boys first find that even defining the terms is difficult, and spend too much time figuring out what qualifies as strength and what is speed. You would think that after all that discussion, that they'd come to a consensus on the terminology, but then you'd be wrong. They do not.

In the end, did they come to a conclusion about what is better? Absolutely not, it's a LOT of middle of the road takes here.

Dylan then presents some fun coaching scenarios and the talk turns on how they would each handle a number of different situations including; how to help a runner who is stuck in a run and not improving, and working with a "blank slate" athlete.

The question is from a longtime cyclist moving into running and he asks about how to approach running training in comparison to cycling training.

Then the discussion turns to the 20 mile long run, and the crusade to end Americas long obsession over running 20 miles before the marathon.

  • Mind Your Miles Podcast | Checking in on the Guys + A Book Review of "The Endurance of Speed" by Jason Karp
    Mar 30 2024

This episode begins with the usual low-energy intro of Will and Dylan, then goes into a little check in on each of the guys and what's going on with their running.

They talk about why Dylan has forsaken the Triathlon, Will's recovery from injury, and perform a full-scale therapy session on the pod's resident head-case - Nick.

During said discussion, you'll hear some good nuggets on fueling for ultra-marathons and why EVERYONE (especially Nick) should have a coach.

The pod moves into a review of "The Endurance of Speed - The Revolutionary New Way to Train for Marathons and 1/2 Marathons" by Jason Karp.

Come for the therapy session and stay to hear the boys discuss why Dr. Karp's book may not be as revolutionary as the title says.
