• Let’s try this again...Throwback ft. Tim Lodgen! (Ep. 32)
    Sep 23 2023

***This is a throwback episode from our first podcast, "The Stiicky Eddie Podcast," published in August 2022. Partnerships and promo codes mentioned have since expired.***

WARNING: This episode contains mentions of physical and emotional abuse, and suicide/self harm.   Tim Lodgen is so much more than his addiction: he is a husband, father, son, veteran, athlete, and advocate. He is a gorgeous storyteller, with a haunted, complex past. He is kind and funny, and very generous with his time (we would know, we took a LOT of it this week). He is also someone who involuntarily gave 27 years to opioid and alcohol abuse, and almost took his own life more than once.  I have been looking at a lot of old family photos lately, and I believe there is a universal truth behind the monster we know as addiction: NO ONE starts as a little kid who thinks, "When I grow up, I want to feel desperately miserable and be in so much pain that I have to mask it with substances and suffer great consequences." It's heartbreaking to think of the weight of this guilt bearing down on any young person's shoulders. Tim's story of how he worked his way through trauma and depression, and began to unlock his gifts, is so beautiful. He is most certainly an inspiration- and a wonderful example of taking a closer look at the person behind the addiction. Hopefully, this episode will inspire just one person to come out of that shadow.  I ask you to trust me when I say- you are NOT alone. If you are struggling, please reach out. There are actually helpful resources available and if you don't know where to start, we are happy to help. When we spoke to Tim, I can say with certainty that Suzanne and I were blown away. We can't imagine a world without someone like him in it- and thanks to his hard work, and the support of his loved ones, we don't have to.  You're worth it, too.    (Original show notes by Chelsea Pegues)   Follow our CURRENT show on IG: @lets_try_this_again_pod   Please rate and review us on your podcast platform. • Let’s try this again...Birds aren’t real? (Ep. 31)
    Sep 16 2023
Happy weekend, Try-Hards! This week the ladies dive right into a topic that's really taken precedence in recent pop culture: conspiracies theories and social experiments. The fascinating combination of which can really shed light on the malleable nature of humankind and the fragility of societal structure. But don't worry, our usual brand of comic relief is here to stay!  We've also decided to read "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" for our fall book discussion! Per Goodreads: "France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue...across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name." Pick up your copy or download the audio (perfect for fall walks!) and join our banter!

  • Let’s try this again...Grief, you bitch! (Ep. 30)
    Sep 8 2023
We are 30 and flirty, Try-Hards! Episode 30, that is!  This week is a hard one for our favorite co-host, Sue. September 7th and 8th mark Bobby's birthday and the 3rd anniversary of his passing, respectively. The ladies dive into how our bodies handle the approach of a marked day, and how we respond to grief in myriad ways. Of course, there are plenty of nonsensical and fun digressions along the way, and we fully intend to settle on (and announce) our book choice next week!  Thanks for sticking with us, as always! • Let’s try this again...Ep. 29: Fresh off a real-life meetup!
    Aug 25 2023
Happy Friday, Try-Hards! Sue and Chelsea have a lot to celebrate this week, including their first ever in-person hang out sesh since first starting to record together 2 years ago! It was really therapeutic and completely natural- a much-needed comfort, especially as Chelsea continues on her journey of physical healing. The ladies also touch on the power of a good attitude in a customer service (or any forward-facing) position, parenting in a way that lets your child know you respect them, how to recalibrate when you find yourself in a confrontational mood, reaching out for help when you feel your mental health depleting, and much, much more! Thank you for joining us again this week and please continue to send us your suggestions for September book club! Please also rate and review us wherever possible- we love you for it!    Follow us on IG: @lets_try_this_again_pod_

  • Let’s try this again...Ep. 28: We’re back from hiatus!
    Aug 17 2023
28 and GREAT! Welcome backkkkkk, Try-Hards! We've missed you (and each other) tremendously! Over the past month we've been on hiatus due to Chelsea's ongoing recovery, but that doesn't mean we haven't been thinking of you all and continuing to put in the serious work in our spiritual, mental, and emotional journeys. Without too much ado, we'd like to jump back in and hope you'll join us from now until forever, LOL. So sit back, relax, shuffle the tarot deck and enjoy another episode full of "Random chats about the chaos of life!" (TM!).    Some notes: Chelsea's new friend Courtney is mentioned heavily in this episode because her holistic balms and salves are almost single-handedly helping me heal. Find her on IG: @courtneymodafferi   The super-interesting episode about the lost colony of Roanoke can be found on the Disappearances podcast (Spotify).    If you're interested in a really good beach read: Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score is IT.   Thanks again for sticking with us! WE LOVE YOU to the moon and back again! See ya next week!

  • Let’s try this again...Ep. 27
    Jul 14 2023

Well hello Try-Hards! This week, we congratulate Sue on 13 years of sobriety!!!! Pew pew pewwww!!!!! She has worked so hard and in honor or her major accomplishment, Chelsea asked her to pen a short reflection to post on the IG page. Please check out her insight @lets_try_this_again_pod it's wonderful.

The ladies wind their way into the topic of recovery a little further by discussing triggers in sobriety, relationships after trauma, working out as a "replacement" addiction, and eating disorders. This was a little bit of a long one, but is definitely worth it- and you can listen at the gym! ;)

Thank you for your continued support- if you like us, or have just a few seconds to help us grow, PLEASE rate and review wherever you listen to podcasts. We REALLY appreciate it, and every little bit helps us try to help someone else.

    Have a great weekend, Try-Hards!

  • Let’s try this again...Ep. 26
    Jul 7 2023
Greetings, Try-Hards! Jumping right in this week, Sue is focused on taking small steps to put herself in more social settings, and is opening up to the idea of dating. She's been working on capturing a more feminine energy for herself recently, and this effort has been reflecting in positive ways for our favorite Capricorn! Not only is she creating a home she feels more comfortable and serene in, she is engaging with others more readily and beginning to understand how to spend time with people- and still protect her peace. As any true introvert knows, this is a skill that can take decades to tune; Sue is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and what we are all capable of on our healing journeys. SO proud of this lady! Chelsea throws out some suggestions on how Sue can perhaps meet a partner as well as continue her personal growth, and the ladies touch a little more on patience and allowing your higher power (whatever shape this takes for you) to help guide you a little more. Sometimes letting go yields better results than mashing the gas (ahem, looking at you, lead-foot Chelsea!).    Thanks for joining us again this week, y'all! Sue mentions reading "The Artists's Way", and Chels is now enjoying "Many Lives, Many Masters" a third time! We hope you enjoy these as well...and love you very much!   Follow us on Instagram @lets_try_this_again_pod

  • Let’s try this again...Ep. 25
    Jun 30 2023

Our podcast is old enough to rent a car, Try-Hards! That's right, episode 25 is here! By now y'all know how much we love Qveen Herby and Jedi Nick and their amazing work over on House of Herby. So Chelsea went ahead and read their recommendation, "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Dr. Brian L. Weiss. TALK ABOUT LIFE-CHANGING! We delve deeper into the levels of reincarnation and how lifting the veil can guide our lives in the physical world as we talk about the premise behind this true experience. It's amazing and really goes to show what can happen when you keep an open mind about all things. We also touch on what reincarnation means to us in our personal experiences with profound grief, and how it can help (or lead to some confusion, in Chelsea's case).

The ladies have been on a positive spin lately, and you'll definitely hear that our auras are a bit brighter this time around! Hopefully you enjoy this deep-rooted conversation just as much. What do you think about reincarnation? What are your beliefs about the spirit realms? Do you find it helpful in your grief/anxiety/depression experience(s)? We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this!

Thanks for joining us, Try-Hards! We wish you peace, love, and all that is woo-woo. Spread some kindness and good karma this week!
