• Thomas of Canterbury on a snowy Thursday, and a new book in Bede’s histories
    Nov 21 2024

Good afternoon and forgive the cheeky frog in my throat as I read more from TS Eliot and Bede.

We awoke to snow in Dorset today, much to the delight of dog and horror of cat.

Wishing you all a restful Thursday on this beautiful planet.

  • Having courage of mind, English hedges, and our Venerable companion closes Book 1.
    Nov 20 2024

Good morning. I would be so delighted if you would join me for a quarter of an hour in my garden in the south west corner of the British Isles, where neither motorway nor city be there (true fact about Dorset!).

Today I encourage us all to have the courage of our own minds; we look at English hedges and we bring to a close Bede’s first book. There are five in total, so we are a fifth of a way through his epic history. Bravo if you’ve stayed with me thus far.

I’d be so grateful if some kind person could feedback as to whether my garden is too noisy a spot. I only hear the birds but there is a nearby road, alas. 🙋‍♀️🌳

Dear friends, life can be so tough. Routine can help in dark times and so the routine of daily readings, whether Bede or Tintin, especially out-loud, is something to hold on to. Little life-jackets, are these simple tools, to get us through dark patches. Counting blessings, too, is another life-jacket to turn to. Nothing can fix but lots and lots of things can comfort and soothe. Thank you for joining me and best wishes to you. 🤗Send us a textSupport the sho...
