About this listen

Hadley Hunter has lived a normal life, in a normal suburb, with a normal job and a normal father. All that changes when a grandmother she didn’t even know existed dies and leaves her a fabulous lighthouse on Moonstone Bay Island.

Hadley, ready for an adventure, decides to check things out and finds herself plunged into a world she never envisioned.

From the naked woman swimming in the ocean outside her back door to the hot sheriff who seems to be hiding a secret, Hadley is intrigued from the start. That’s before magical things start happening - including to Hadley - and a body washes up on the beach.

It seems Moonstone Bay has a killer on the loose...and he may be stalking Hadley, although no one can figure out why.

Things are about to spiral for Moonstone Bay’s newest reluctant - and baffled - witch. She has to learn about the past, investigate the present, and hold on to her future for dear life. Along the way, she will meet a bevy of new friends who have a few particular abilities...and a lot of really odd quirks.

Set sail for adventure, because once you visit Moonstone Bay, you’ll never be the same again.

Absolutely fun!

Hadley Hunter had no idea that Moonstone Bay existed until she inherited a lighthouse! For Hadley, that's just the beginning of a VERY long list of surprises. Don't forget about the zombies, the werewolves, the witches and the dreaded Downtown Development Association! Did I mention the shark shifters? Prepare to hold your sides with laughter.

Another Good Series

I really enjoyed this book. I gave it a chance because it is written by Amanda Lee and I enjoy her Aisling Grimlock series. Hadley made a lot of mistakes and she is clearly the weakest link in regards to intelligence. However , although I rolled my eyes several times at her actions, I really wanted to know how things developed. The concept of the book is really good and well written. The characters are engaging and multidimensional. This seems like the beginning of a really good series.

I enjoyed this new series.

It's a cosy book. It's funny, kind of predictable but still entertaining. It a new place with many more supernaturals to get to know. I have to admit many of her characters seems familiar, but the recipe still work for me, I'm still listening nonstop and can't wait for the next book.

But it will not get 5 stars from me...
The romance part is quite similar to Bay and Landons relationship. I don't particularly find it so charming that the attractive, hunky, cocky guy bosses the "little lady" around and try take over her life. But he's sweet and sensitive. And he just care so much, so everyone is swooning instead of being annoyed. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy, but he kind of drives me crazy with the way he talk to her like she's his kid when he's protective. And i don't like how he steamrolles her sometimes. Hadley is smart, grown women so it's a bit too much when she allow this kind of treatment. I get she's dropped into a new world, so I get why she's kind of insecure in this book, I hope she will be even stronger, more confident and kickass the next time we meet her. Now she seems like part Clove and Bey. I would rather see more Aunt Tilly and Bey = Capable, strong, smart and snarky.

I would have loved another narrator too. She's not bad. But she makes Hadley seems like a young teenager instead of a woman.

Not your typical murder mystery

Lots of different characters to get know in more ways than one, diversity at it’s best. Enjoyable listen.

light on mystery but great character setup

even for a cozy mystery the mystery is light, but the author has begun the setup of a very rich environment and characters so that you look forward to future books.

Hard to like

I found it hard to like any of the characters in this book, frankly. And the whiny voice of the protagonist actually spoiled any bit of enjoyment I may have had for the book.

Cute story with fun characters. Narrator is o.k. I almost couldn't finish the book with the reader.

Waste of time

Ok, I liked the story. However, the narrator was not impressive at all. It took me a month to finish, it normaly takes 3 days.

Painful to listen

What did you like best about Witchin' USA? What did you like least?

I liked the set up for the Moonstone Bay universe. As someone who LOVES Nocturne Falls books, I thought I'd give this a try. Based on previous reviews, I thought this would be a great read.

What I liked least is a longer list. The beginning of the book was slow, dialogue painful. I had to ask myself where was the editor during all this??? I look for characters that I can identify with, something about them that grabs me and makes me care about them.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most interesting could have been the main character coming to grips with the way things worked on Moonstone Bay.

How could the performance have been better?

I was so distracted by the reader that I had trouble focusing on the book. The reader needs to work on her male voices, which mostly sounded stupid or slow.

Angel Clark has narrated so many books (I just checked), but I was unfamiliar with her work.

Did Witchin' USA inspire you to do anything?

Yes, write a review.
