Publisher's summary

From the internationally best-selling author of The Simple Wild comes the continuation of a woman's journey to Alaska and a life she never imagined for herself.

Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can't dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.

But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price - a log cabin in rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.

With Jonah gone more than he's home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.

This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother's fleeing footsteps after all.

Fantastic

K.a. Tucker is a wordsmith and her ability to interweave lives into her words is nothing short of magical by bringing you into the world of her characters. She is by far my favorite!!

Love these book so much

“𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙡𝙮. 𝙇𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙞𝙧. 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙞𝙧.”

This is the continuation of Calla and Jonah’s story, and I don’t even know if I can adequately explain why, but I have just loved their story so much. From the setting, to the melding together of two completely different lives, to the side characters, to the story itself, I have just loved everything about these books.

First of all the setting: KA Tucker does an amazing job transporting the reader to this new Alaskan home and community; the images she creates of the views from this house? 🫠 There isn’t as much “adventure” as in the last book, but I was just as sucked into the “hominess” in this one.

There are new characters to get to know, and I loved every one of them, even the animals!

The story mostly revolved around them creating a new life together, and I loved every minute of it. The communication between these two, while not ALWAYS perfect, was a highlight for me, because I’m a sucker for adequate 👏 communication 👏 in 👏romance! 😂

And the emotions Calla felt throughout were so real. The audiobook narrator, Rebekkah Ross did such a fabulous job emoting throughout, I couldn’t help but feel them right along with her.

I’m so glad there’s one more novella with these two, because I’m not ready to leave them behind just yet, but I can definitely see myself reading these again. (And maybe talking my husband into taking me on an Alaskan vacation at some point. 😆)

What this book is giving:
✅ Contemporary Romance
✅ Single POV
✅ Making it work
✅ Sky Cowboy
✅ Alaska Setting
✅ ❤️❤️❤️

Perfect!

I held back because I loved the Simple wild so much. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue Calla and Jonah’s story. But these next chapters were perfect and I’m so glad that I listened. The narrator is perfection and brought all of the characters to life! The perfect continuation of one of my favorite stories! ❤️

Not as good as the first but still Good!

Really liked the performance, she does particularly good with Simon's slow proper British voice.

I wish there was more humor sections in the book but there was a lot of heartstrings pulled and cute twists.

Couldn’t stop listening! Obsessed! In love!

This second book in the series captivated me completely! She is a bit whinny but I’ve accepted that’s who she is. I love how much dialogue is in this book. Easy listen, prefect narration and characters!
