Acerca de esta escucha

Release Me is the first book in the highly addictive Wolf Hotel Mermaid Beach series, a spin-off of the Wolf Hotel series.

I may not know much, but I am an expert in two things:

Heartbreak.

And hedonism.

I've been chasing escape from one bed to the next, finding distraction in all the wrong places.

Like with my roommate's sister.

And my billionaire boss's lover.

You could say I'm lucky in lust but very unlucky in the other L-word.

By the time I arrive in Mermaid Beach, Florida, I've decided I'm done with flings. I'm over chasing women I can't have.

Until I meet Sloane Parker, the woman who has made it her mission to ruin the new Wolf Hotel.

A hotel I'm supposed to help manage, by the way. Yeah. Me, Ronan Lyle, Director of Facilities.

Don't you dare laugh.

I don't need another forbidden woman in my life, especially one who could derail my future.

But what I want? That's a totally different story.

Contains mature themes.

Ugh! That ending!! When is the next book? I need to know!!

I really enjoy the Wolf Hotel Series. Ronin is one of my favorites and I'm so curious to see where this goes next!

That Ending though!!

Can’t wait to finish Ronan’s story! I was not expecting this book to end in that way and I am needing the next book now! Narrators good. The story has enough to entice you to keep reading/listening but I did feel more invested in Abbi and Henry’s story. Lots of spicy time if you’re into that.

The ending! 🤦🏻‍♀️OMG!

LOVED the kick off. I loved Abby and Henry but Ronan definitely deserved his own spot light! Can’t wait for the whole series!

K.A. Tucker always delivers

Did I download this first thing this morning (release day) and listen to it all day? Yep. Big fan of the series. Love this spin off! Great narration. Please tell me that Margot comes to visit Mermaid Beach in the next book!

Can’t wait for the next one!

Great story and a logical extension from the previous series. Already looking forward to the next installment.

Only disappointment was the male narrator. His pace is painfully slow and is distracting. Increasing the playback by 20% improved the outcome but it’s a pain to have to increase and decrease the pace between the two narrators.

The female narrator was great.

Great Story

I love The Wolf Hotel series. But this one is almost too close to the first series. The cliffhanger I pretty much knew it was coming even before the smut.

I felt like this version of Henry was off and didn’t care for the male narrator’s version of him.
Abbi, (if you read all 5 other books, you knew what was coming).

But with that being said, I did like it and will read the second one bc DUH, Ronan!

Good..but

Part One: Ronan Lyle getting over Tasha with several women and Ryan.

Part Two: Ronan Lyle and Sloane Parker.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Release Me by KA Tucker. The Wolf Hotel series: Mermaid Beach trilogy, book 1. Part One (chapters 1-28) of this book is the edited 'Ronan' prequel novella of 'Tempt Me,' and Part Two (chapters 29-52) of it starts after 'Own Me.' Three POV (Ronan's, Ryan's, and Sloane's). Two OW/YM workplace romances: Ronan and Ryan (roommates/best friend's half-sister, both Wolf Hotel employees); and Ronan and Sloane (hotel director of operations and the hotel's disgruntled rival employer/neighbor). Audiobook and ebook review. The ebook is available in KU. It includes both a cute black-and-white map and a playlist. Dual style narration. The audiobook is listed as 11 hours 20 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 4 hours 32 minutes. Narrators Alex Kidd and Veronica Fox are both good narrators and read well, but they're not a good voice match for dual narration. Their voices are vastly different. Alex Kidd is best suited to narrate American surfer MMCs. Ruby Parker's origin story reminds me of the beginning of The Simple Wild. KA Tucker is still counting "one... two... three beats." CLIFFHANGER. Content warnings: FMC was raised by her single mom (now deceased) and maternal grandmother; FMC's grandmother moved into "a home for the elderly;" FMC does not know who her father is; FMC's fiancé was cheating on her and tried to convince her to sell her family's property; MMC's is still hung up on Tasha and Abbi; MMC has multiple on-page sexual partners before Sloane; and an impending pregnancy scare.

This book is listed as book one in a new Wolf Hotel spinoff series and is written in two parts: before and after Abbi. The one-year time hop between the two parts encompasses all 5 of the original Wolf Hotel books. That missing year is significant and sets up part two of this book. Although readers won't be "lost" without reading the other five Wolf Hotel books while reading Release Me, they will be missing most of the character connections and pivotal storylines that lead to Part Two. I don't like that the 'Ronan' novella was edited and is the beginning of this spinoff trilogy. I wish KA Tucker had left it as it was and started 'Release' Me with what is known as "Part Two," and given us more of the year before Ronan and Sloane met and insight into their characters. This is the first time I've read a book written this way and it's not a style that I would knowingly read again.

Part One finds Ronan Lyle (24) moving from Indiana to Miami after a brutal breakup. He moves in with playboy Connor Brien* (25) and Ryan Tatum (25; Connor's half-sister). Connor helps Ronan find distractions of the female variety to help him get over Tasha, his ex-girlfriend. Ronan had a few one-night stands, is then only with Ryan for a week, and then had a last one-night fling with a woman before Ronan and Connor traveled to Alaska to work at Wolf Cove. I read the original thirteen-chapter 'Ronan' prequel novella years ago and had hoped Ronan (24) would find his way back to Ryan (25; Ronan's romantic interest in Part One), but Ryan is living with Kyle in Part Two. Chapter 29 picks up with Ronan (25) at Wolf Cove reflecting on the last year. Chapter 30 introduces Sloane Parker. She's both the residential and commercial neighbor of the new Wolf Hotel on Mermaid Beach. She and her grandmother have been turning down every offer the Wolf family's representatives have proposed to buy their land for the last several years. Chapter 31 starts with another one-year time hop. Connor (27) and Ronan (26) are still best friends living in Miami and working at the local Wolf Hotel. Henry and Abbi are happily married and Abbi is pregnant with her first baby (a girl). Henry Wolf offers Ronan the director of operations position (a significant promotion with perks and a transfer) at the newest Wolf Hotel at Mermaid Beach. Henry grants Ronan's request that Connor transfers with him. Sloane (31) is struggling to keep all of her employees from leaving her to work for the new hotel. She and Ronan come to an agreement that he won't hire all of her employees if she removes her hate campaign posters facing the hotel properties. Things escalate quickly between Ronan and Sloane and they don't use protection. Cody, Sloane's ex-fiancé, is informing anyone who will listen that only Sloane's employees weren't hired for the new hotel. Tasha (Ronan's ex) and her friends are on their way to the hotel for the opening week as Ronan's guests.... Henry Wolf has plans to have the local government claim eminent domain of Sloane's property.... Sloane realizes she's late.....

2.5 out of 5 on my spice scale.

1st listen 06-10-25 (audiobook and KU)

*Connor's last name "Brien" was in the original 'Ronan' novella and is in 'Own Me.' I don't know why it was omitted in Release Me.

Read the entire Wolf Hotel series first.
