About this listen

A serial killer is on the loose in metro Detroit. Three female victims have been discovered in motel rooms in different suburban cities surrounding Motown. The only connection is that each body is found in Room 319, and the killer leaves the taunting message "Why 319?" on the bathroom mirror, written with the victim's lipstick.

Detective Jefferson Chene heads up an elite squad of detectives assigned to the case. With no home life, he devotes every waking moment to catching killers. But this one is more elusive than most. With no clues and no apparent link between the victims, Chene is at a dead end. But a startling revelation busts the case wide open. He's closing in on the murderer, but will it be before another young woman loses her life?

Great story, well written and presented

Why 319 is a great police procedural story of the hunt to find a killer of three women who leaves the cryptic clue: Why 319?

The author knows his stuff and brings a sense of realism to a dedicating team on a difficult case

A well written story that can easily be a tv show

An in-depth story line, believable characters and accurate details all brought together make this a great read. Many times the dialog between characters took me right into the room with them and the banter between friends was just as I'd expect to experience as a team member.

Awesome book

I’m not much of a reader but this book had me engaged the entire time. Didn’t suspect who the killer was or anything. Wasn’t predictable like most. Very well written. I loved every minute of it.

This book made a long drive bearable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I had to take a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and long story short, I ended up in the car for 12 hours. This book made the time pass very quickly. Interesting story. Strong narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Why 319??

I liked all the scenes in the squad house with the detectives piecing together the crime. A fair number of surprises along the way.

What does Keith McCarthy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Narrator has a voice that is pleasing to listen to...The characters were well done... narrator used a soft touch with characterization which I appreciated.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, just engaged throughout.

The story was flimsy and not as fleshed out as it could have been. Not a lot of character development, and a lot of character motivations (particularly that of the killer) were left completely unexplored. I think it might have been a sort of entertaining quick read, but it was a hard slog to listen to. The narrator was not good. His voice was completely inappropriate for the story, and he slurred, stumbled and mispronounced words noticeably. Give this one a miss,
