About this listen

THE OVERNIGHT VIRAL SENSATION AND NATIONAL BESTSELLER

The bestselling phenomenon, When the Moon Hatched, is a fast-paced fantasy romance featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity’s grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to FALL.

As an assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to complete orders and never get caught. When a rival bounty hunter turns her world upside down, blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself imprisoned by the Guild of Nobles—a group of powerful fae who turn her into a political statement.

Crushed by the loss of his great love, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to quell the never-ebbing ache in his chest, he is lured by a clue into the capitol’s high-security prison where he stumbles upon the imprisoned Raeve....

Echoes of the past race between them.

There’s more to their story than meets the eye, but some truths are too poisonous to swallow.

""A wild ride that thrills as much as it enchants . . . This remarkable book is an instant classic.” — Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars

When The Moon Hatched breathes new, beautiful life into the genre, as Sarah A. Parker weaves lyrical prose with undeniable chemistry. I laughed, I cried, I got everything out of this. It’s an absolutely stunning fantasy world that everyone should sink their teeth into.” — Raven Kennedy, internationally bestselling author of The Plated Prisoner series

Rich with emotion, interesting world, magic, and creatures

I didn't love it immediately. It definitely took me 6+ chapters to be interested, so I would say my interest was slow to build up, but that's not to say the action was slow. It was immediate.

There were very few times when I had the thought that the stupid characters just need to talk to each other.

I found the dragons, the origin story, the magic, the world difficult to understand for a long time. I'm not sure if it was the names or the lack of substance to anchor anything to that would allow me reference points.

Regardless, about 30% in, I was invested, intrigued, and ready to see this through. The book feels more high fantasy than others with similar subject matter in that the world building, the adventure, the breadth of creatures, and complexity is beyond what you find in a quick read dragon story. No, this tale is epic, and I expect the series to be much loved by those with a heart full of dragon flame and a thirst for adventure, battle, and discovery.

This book will be one I recommend to others.

The voice narration for the audiobook was done well. Clear differences between characters with no odd tone or inflection or any myriad of annoying signatures that are frustrating from some narrators.

Wowza! I have not read a book that had me feel so many emotions in a long time. It’s been a while that I have read a fantasy book that has the full package. Such beautiful world building, unique magic system, romance (not the main point), story building, vibrant characters and so much more. I do not like to compare books to other books but When the Moon Hatched reminded me of what it felt like to read ToG. They are no where near the same but the feeling I felt reading was similar.
I can tell this series is going to be special. Absolutely devoured this book. Loved it so much!

The banter! The banter alone was 5 stars! The FMC Raeve was everything you want in a strong FMC but also with a smart mouth. I was laughing so much at the things she says. Don’t get me started on the MMC Kaan! Steamy broody and jaded! The moonplumes are so beautifully described. The heartbreak was done very well! I’m on edge to read the next one! I did a hybrid read.

The audio book was amazing. The narrators did an amazing job! Loved this performance.

Kept me guessing.

Great story. Draws you in right away. Use the PDF, it’s hard to understand all the names/terms just from hearing them. Seeing names and definitions/descriptions helped me visually. That’s something that I struggle with sometimes with an audio book that has major world building with strange names and terms. Actual Reading it makes it easier to go back and understand. Sometimes audio is difficult, while convenient. So the PDF reference helped a lot. Main frustration….I went into it thinking it was a stand alone. Didn’t realize until the end that it must be a part of an unfinished set since it just came out. A month ago. If I had known that, I probably would not have read it until all or most of the other books have been published. I actually like to just go from book to book to book and not have to wait years in between. I usually lose interest and forget to follow back up a year or two later or whenever the next book comes out. So be forewarned that it does not end in this book or even answer many of the questions. That being said, it was a really good story and set the stage for even more drama and intrigue in the future.

Prepare for the biggest book hangover

Omg this is such an amazing story and the world building is unbelievable. It’s such a unique and different love story that is so refreshing in the bustling fantasy fae book arena we are in currently. The characters will definitely imprint and leave a mark and the voice actors do them justice. I’m so ready to read the next one!!

Mixed Depths: Navigating Complexity with Potential

An unconventional writing style sets this book apart. While the plot is rich with activity, it occasionally leaves readers like me grappling to keep track of characters, events, and locations. Yet, amidst the confusion, there's a glimmer of hope that future installments will shed light on lingering mysteries. Despite the challenges, diving into this series is still worth the journey.

loved the storyline, but somewhat confused

This is DEFINITELY a detailed story. I like that there's a downloadable guide as well. Tons of information being thrown out that can be confusing to follow with audio, but I quite like detailed books that help me shape the world in my mind. I love that it follows multiple POV's & the dialog flows well. The spicy scenes (although there aren't many) are beautifully done. like I said, details. 😁
Can't wait for book 2!!

Jesus Christ.

Great Writing, Great Narrators.

The story is phenomenal! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting for the curtain to be slowly peeled back.
The narrators are talented, I loved both their voices. they really drew me in and brought the story to life.
