About this listen

The thrilling conclusion to the breakout Malediction Trilogy by Goodreads Choice finalist Danielle L. Jensen.

Cécile and Tristan have accomplished the impossible, but their greatest challenge remains: defeating the evil they have unleashed upon the world.

As they scramble for a way to protect the people of the Isle and liberate the trolls from their tyrant king, Cécile and Tristan must battle those who'd see them dead. To win, they will risk everything. And everyone.

But it might not be enough. Both Cécile and Tristan have debts, and they will be forced to pay them at a cost far greater than they had ever imagined.

Bitter Sweet Ending

This was an enjoyable series, but not one of my favorites. I do not consider it in the same league as Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR) or Maria V, Snyder (Choronicales of Ixia). Very young adult with the drama of 17 year olds. Where as in the other authors I mentioned, they are more mature and world savvy.

The following review could have spoilers as I try to share the waring of this series end.

There were parts of the series I did feel needed "more." When Cecile finds the gimore, she seems to focus mostly on that and never really explores her singing magic, other than with her last performance. And why this last book is called "Warrior Witch" confused me too. Cecile never fights as a warrior fights. She doesn't use her magic in crucial times when fighting the villian. She lets others fight for her. And the author never fully explains what happened to Julian when Cecile cast the spell on him. This is the reason for my 4/5 stars rating. As long as the books were, there was a little too much repetition that could have been deleted and more clarity added. In fact, as the story ends, and Cecile lives her life, she never talks about her magic again.

The ending for the main heroes is bittersweet. If you are a fan of the ending to the Nexflix series "Lucifer" then you will enjoy this ending. I did not like what the Summer King did at all to Tristian or Cecile. I thought it cruel thatthe king didn't share his plans with Tristian, instead tormenting him with what he could not have. And Cecile having to go through what she did without Tristian, again I found it to be more cruel than enjoyable. But as these are just my opinions, you may hear the ending with the twists, overwhelming saddness, choices, conclusion, and enjoy it more than I did.

Be aware that so many of the secondary characters do not survive. The author is quick and vague on the lives of the best friends. You know where they live and what their businesses are, but as to who (if anyone) they settle with and love, there is no mention. These 2 characters really deserved a HEA as much as the main characters, in my opinion; as they suffered so much along side the main heroes.

The narration is good. I enjoy listening to the characters point of views with the male/femal voices. I have enjoyed Eric Michael Summerer's narration in other books. This was the first series I have listened to with Erin Moon, but she did a great job.

Awesome ending to an awesome trilogy!

This book was astoundingly good. I never saw the end coming. This book is for anyone who likes a more pragmatic ending than the usual fairy tale variety.

Pronunciation changes

I hate that they changed how some names were pronounced from the first 2 books!

But a great trilogy all together and. Great ending that had me crying for the entire last hour of the book.
