About this listen

Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes.

Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he’s brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn’t deduce his way out
of a paper bag. The only things he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always
there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety … and save him from a gruesome death every now and again.

An imaginative, irreverent and addictive reimagining of the world’s favourite detective, Warlock Holmes retains the charm, tone and feel of the original stories
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle while finally giving the flat at 221b Baker Street what it’s been missing for all these years: an alchemy table.

Reimagining six stories, this riotous mashup is a glorious new take on the ever-popular Sherlock Holmes myth, featuring the vampire Inspector Vladislav
Lestrade, the ogre Inspector Torg Grogsson, and Dr. Watson, the true detective at 221b. And Sherlock. A warlock.

Read Sherlock Holmes stuff first!

I was rather new to Arthur Conan Doyle's stuff, but had been steadily going thru it and enjoying it rather well. When I ran across this I gave it a try and loved it! The first book in the grouping of short stories is a remake of the "study in scarlet," and it did a very good job of remaking scenes from the original, but with the "Warlock" flavor. Reading the originals really did give a lot more enjoyment to these book for me, and I have to say the are extremely entertaining and well written. A nice tip of the hat to the originals, while still having their on style. Great listen.

The more I read, the more I liked

Half way through I was doubtful I would recommend this book. As I reached the end though I had to admit I really kind of liked it all. It adds some funny elements to the classic Holmes (yes, I read them all); the book had me laughing out loud a couple of times. Plus, Denning made the characters different but alike, and just as endearing. It may not be for all Doyle fans, but if you are okay with taking a laughing twist at the classic Holmes I recommend it.

wow so much fun

if you'd like period pieces detective stories and the supernatural this is the way to go. There is detective work done only for the most part it's done in a supernatural way. or the main character simply has experienced. Either way a very fun read a very fun listen as the narrator does an excellent job. don't miss it if you'd like laughing there were a couple of points that I laughed out loud for more than five minutes. case in point the Demonic nature of the donut.

Sherlock Holmes, but different, In a good way

Retelling of Sherlock Holmes if he was a bumbling warlock instead of a brilliant investigator.

Cute take in holmes and watson

Who knew that Watson could be the 'real' detective? This is a light bit of frothy entertainment.

Humorous and light hearted take on Sherlock Holmes

The story line was amusing, witty, and thoroughly enjoyable. The book often winked at the original Sherlock Holmes series, but with its own plot twists and story line.

The narrator was absolutely incredible. He did a fantastic job with giving each character their own "voice", and his pacing was superb. It felt very much like John Watson was reading his own diary to me.

I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who has enjoyed Sherlock Holmes in the past.

But it looks just like him

Ever since Maureen Birmbaum: barbarian swordswoman, I've enjoyed these types of books. Doesnt attempt some smarmy retelling but takes familiar characters, dresses them in slightly different clothes and let them run free in a really fun book.
