Story
When an armed assailant breaks into her home, geneticist Tari Salah is forced to run from an unknown enemy. The murder of two friends and the bombing of her lab strip her of all her allies. When she’s framed for the crimes and branded a terrorist, she can’t even go to the police for help. Special Agent Dalton Fowler is thrilled when the director of a covert law enforcement agency handpicks him for a sensitive case. Locating and protecting a wrongly accused geneticist should be simple. When he’s shot on his second day, he realizes that nothing about this will be straightforward.

Will it be in Boston as he’d originally thought, or in Green Knoll, Kentucky, the place that still feels like home?

Publisher's summary
A ship that never sails ...and a crew that never works.
Shepherd's mission isn't going to be easy.
While his rebellious shipmates prefer to sit anchored in the Shallows forever, Shepherd intends to obey the Master’s orders: sail across the Forbidden Sea to shore. No matter the cost.
After Shepherd’s patience finally runs out, he secretly weighs anchor in the dead of night, forcing all onboard to begin their journey across the sea—ready or not.
But the voyage to shore is more dangerous than anyone expects. Shepherd must teach the crew to trust the Master's plan and work together to navigate the terrors that await them, all while squelching the ever-present threat of a mutiny.
Will the Master be pleased with Shepherd's efforts, or will all of his failures drown out any hope of success?
An allegory depicting the local church, Voyage is the second book in Valerie Howard's Celestial Kingdom series, and is perfect for fans of faith-strengthening Christian allegories like Pilgrim's Progress and Hinds' Feet on High Places.
Books in the Celestial Kingdom series can be listened to in any order, and are great for anyone ages 12 to adult:

They said write what you know so that's what I did. I wrote dirty, I wrote erotic, I wrote the truth. And then they called me a liar. But it's not me who's lying, it's them. Our story isn't for everyone. It's not even for us. So if you're looking for the fairy tale and the stupid prince on his dumb white horse, move along. You've got a hold of the wrong book. This is not your story, this is not your life, and this is not your opportunity to dip your frightened little toe into the dark pool of water and "try new things" and then pull it out and decide... #NotForMe.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Drags a little
This was an interesting read and did address some of the problems of Christians today, but I didn't feel some of it was a fair view of today's church. Some good lessons to consider, though questionable doctrine in some areas in my opinion. It moved a little slow for my taste at times. Not a great read, but okay. Just be aware that it is an allegory, not Scripture!
The narration was pretty good.
