Great story. Poor narrator!

Agree with all the other reviews that the narrator is terrible - flat, and does’t pause at right places. Also reads too slowly. Hard for me to finish the book even though the story is wonderful and I learned some interesting and important black history.

A dynamic plot with realistic characters and so engaging. I only hated it had to end.

Loved the setting, and the emphasis on family and community. Of course, the historical references were nicely woven into the story.

Vivid, Indeed!

Beverly Jenkins is an amazing writer and storyteller! Once again, I was transported into this story and it was so believable. A historical fiction romance that will fill you up with all the feels! I would definitely recommend reading this book and will continue reading other books from Ms. Jenkins!

A nice story

Love the little hints of history throughout the story. It’s not as hot passionate love making as I’m used to reading but it was nice.

I absolutely loved this book, OMG it was so good. I can't even tell you how much I loved this book, from the very first page I was hooked. I just loved all the characters and the dialogues between them, Beverly Jenkins is one of my favorite authors & I have read many of her books, but I have to say this may be my favorite. 😃😃😃😍😍😍
