About this listen

"[P]erfectly encapsulates someone facing impending doom." (Kirkus Reviews)

When all life becomes collateral damage...

Inside the mind of his protagonist - a nurse - first-time novelist Steve Schroeder challenges the reader to ponder this: What would I think and feel if I was separated from the people I love in the very last days of planet Earth? In passages reminiscent of Albert Camus’ existential musings, this unnamed everywoman at last makes peace with the life she’s led." (David Wann, author of Simple Prosperity and co-author of Affluenza: the All-Consuming Epidemic)

beautiful and ephemeral

upon purchasing this book I knew it would be a foray off the beaten path for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the gravity I felt. you grow to love characters for whom you never know their names but understand exactly where they're coming from. very beautifully written with an empathetic hand which sheds light on our deeper wants and needs while also highlighting what anchors us to the ground.

I hope to hear very much from this author in the future!

exactly what I needed in this moment and time !!!

Outstanding! A time.capsule and a time machine! Heartfelt and sensual.
I felt I was living multiple Lifetimes in a matter of days . My heart opened as I journeyed with you into the essence of what's true to the core as  we , alongside the character in this book, simultaneously , reach multiple event horizons of our lives .
It seems it could be the end of all things or simoly the emotions of this moment ,right now , that felt could open me to life again and again .
Thank you Steve for this Poetic beauty of the poetry of who and what we are in the moments that we choose or find ourselves standing alone, with only the primal nature of our curiosity and taste for the fire that is wild and free . Somewhere out beyond memories and goals we once had we are reminded of who we are by nature.. ❤
Steve Schroeder your writing flows like a shamans song , as you tell a tale of ages and a time that our  future will reflect upon . Thank you -Tara

A reminder of what’s ultimately most important

The main character draws you into her world from the very beginning. As she describes her life experiences in the past and brings you into her feelings in the moment, you are pulled into imagining what you might do if you were in her shoes. As the story draws to a close, you are left reflecting on what’s most important in life.

Frustrating Book of Bad Writing

There is a lot of meandering internal dialog to slog through between the interesting bait about the black hole. I kept thinking how much better written the brightest half of any creative writing class would have done given an assignment to create a story around the parameters of this book. I didn't feel any connection to the woman or her thoughts, which is the fault of the author, only emotion to the IDEA of the scenario. Such a failed effort of a great concept.
