Publisher's summary

Blind-sided by her fiancé's questionable behavior, Lauren Carter returns to the one place she's managed to avoid, the small Alaskan town she used to call home. She's spent years running from her scandalous past and now she's forced to confront an uncertain future.

Blake Tully, wildly successful owner of Emerald Cove's new whitewater rafting and kayaking business, finds that Lauren's unexpected reappearance in his life ignites old feelings. Although she broke his heart once, he longs to give his childhood sweetheart a second chance.

Will Lauren allow her shameful secret to define her? Can Blake forgive her when he discovers the reason she's been hiding?

Get your tissues out HEA!

This audio surprised me! I know...this never happens but I couldn't guess what was coming next for most of the story! I am giving a spoiler by saying it was a tearful romance but that's all I'm giving you. The main character, Lauren, goes home again to Alaska after 8 years and picks back up with her family with no hard feelings. That was weird to me because the rest of her family is so close. Also, the real reason, she finally revealed is a tad bit lame, but what do I know. I was very pleased by the development of the other characters in the story and the layered plots because this was a story about a family as much as it was a romance. The audio was very clean and the implementation of Christianity was subtle and very effective. I appreciated Heidi McCahan's message of love and redemption very much. The narrator did an excellent job on this audio and I will definitely listen to her again.
Overall, I believe this is creditworthy for someone looking for a cleaner audio with a positive message.

Decent plot, pretty G-rated. Narrator was okay.

PureFlix ready!

Would you listen to Unraveled again? Why?

Yes. I really enjoyed both the story and the telling. Author Heidi McCahan weaves a wonderful story with rich characters and a solid plot line. I really enjoyed Unraveled. I'd love to see this featured on Hallmark channel or PureFlix.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unraveled?

I don't want to say too much without giving away key info. This story shows how love and forgiveness are the keys to happiness.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I really enjoy Ms. Jennings style. Her narrations are very genuine. It's like spending the day with your best friend telling you a story. I love it!

More melodrama than I wanted

Any additional comments?

I should have known what I was getting into with this listen but I did not. There is so much "Woe is me," "I should have," "Why didn't I," "He'll never forgive me," and on, and on, it went. I finished the listen but I wanted to smack Lauren by the time we get to the inevitable HEA.

There is a very strong Christian undercurrent which should have made this listen more palpable. It did not.

The narration was okay but a lot of this listen took place in Lauren's mind. Sometimes it was hard to tell what was spoken and what was thought.

Sweet Story

I loved Unraveled right from the start. It drew me in and kept my attention as the story and characters were developed.
The story begins with Lauren, who has spent years hiding from her past, and runs smack dab into it when she returns home for a visit. Her old love is rekindled, as her so called new love falls apart but secrets threaten to keep them apart once again.
This is a Christian romance but it doesn't hit you over the head with that. Instead I would say this is beautiful romance with a message of forgiveness and grace.

I thoroughly enjoyed Laura Jennings narration of this story. She added to the story with her character voices and the inflections she used in the conversation. Laura has an easy listening voice which makes this book just that much better.

Touching and sweet story

This first book in the Emerald Cove series is a sweet romance with a story that is filled with likable characters and a plot with twists and turns that kept me interested. The quaint town feeling and the close friends and family make this book enjoyable and difficult to put down. A great start to this series.

The narrator did a great job with each voice. I hope she continues with the others in this series.

3.5 stars for the story

This was just a good, clean and enjoyable romance story. Engaging and entertaining. It pulls you in from the start and holds your interest throughout the entire story. The story does have Christian undertones, it occasionally quotes certain passages but not to many. It doesn't beat you over the head with religion.

Romance, heartbreak, forgiveness, second chances and a HEA.

Family relationships are some of the most complex there are. Secrets have a way of always coming out in the end.

Lauren's life is unraveling a little at a time. She has been running from her past and the secrets she has kept for 8 years. Now back in her hometown she will have to choose whether or not to keep running or face the demons of her past that continue to plague her.

Really loved Blake's character. Blake has a heart of gold. Not many men would be able to forgive her for the decision she made to withhold the truth from him. Lauren's character was just likable. Her actions were really selfish whether she felt she had "reasons" or not.

Laura Jennings did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken. Some really good character voices. The narration flows smoothly with a nice even pace. She was able to bring the characters and all their emotions to life. Very enjoyable.
