Mostly good

The story was mostly good, but it had quite a bit of depressing scenes. Plus a lot of over the top drama to enhance the depression feeling.

Really good cultivation story

I love the introspection of the main character. Unlike other stories that portray everything in simple terms of good and evil, this one is very comfortable with the murky grey reality of a culitivation world, and delves deep into the consequences of that. A true gem.

just great

I like the series so much I am considering listening to book 6 on Kindle. Kindle ai narration is not great but these books are. audible will not have it out till July

pretty good

it's a little slow pased but not bad it had it's fare share of funny moments but I would have appreciated some more humor but the story being in a more somber point does make it more difficult with him being in a better position towards the end of the book I hope the next book will return to the lighter more humorous writing of the earlier books depressed sen isn't as nice to listen to as happy sen

Starting to lose me

The book is too short to have this much angst and depression. One major event and we all knew what it would be. Feels like the author got depressed and it’s all over the pages. This is the winter of thy discontent? Meh. Get back to the strong characters and great story or move on.

a good journey

I enjoyed this book series so far. there's a a little bit of filler but mostly good character development and some plot here and there. good

Decent

So this was good, some ups and downs. If you liked the rest of the series, you'll likely enjoy this one too. Ended very nicely that comfortably leaves it open for the next book without feeling like it just suddenly stop. One thing I'll add though, there was a lot of interspection that feel repeated or drawn out way longer than needed. it happened a few times this book where I skipped forward 1 or 2 minutes and still got the gist of what was said.

On a side note, whoever came up with these bloopers at the end, they were absolutely fantastic. The 1st and last ones especially, and the elixir one as well. They were so well done that I got a chuckle and forgot about the emotional rollercoaster I was on that usually happens to people when they've finished the latest released book available and now realize they've got to wait for months for a new one.

Another good book

If you've made it this far in the series, you probably know why you like it and don't need me to tell you. This one ended the same way the others have, with no feeling of an "end," just anticipation for the next book and more of Sen's journey. I really just came here to say that I appreciate the giggles I get from the bloopers at the end of each book in this series. In case anybody on the production team sees this, definitely keep them in there. The reaction to the healing elixir and the one with the kraken were funniest for me personally. Just sayin'.

Amazing as usual

This book and series is really good as usual. The progression and mindset of Lu Sen is hilarious.

More of the same... to its detriment

The author is delivering a consistent story and where it was once fun and exciting, it has started to become boring and predictable.

I really loved the concept of the story and I really loved the characters. however, the author seems to devoted to long and detailed inner monologues. In some ways, they are well done but in others, the character keeps having the same conversation with themselves with very little variation. It's not even just a handful of times. It is constant. it feels as if the author has been given an assignment by a teacher and told he needs to reach a certain number of words. I could feel myself zoning out of the monologue only for me to come back in and having actually missed nothing. Because it was irrelevant or had already been said before. It rarely advanced the plot.

Then there is Sen. Sen has developed to be untrusting and cautious, with his reaction to any strangers is to immediately threaten them and refuse to listen to anything they're saying. Understandable? Sure. But it feels artificially extended and hard to listen to. If it only happened once, it would even be fine. But it doesn't.
Sen has become aggravating because we are only getting the same story with stagnant growth. He has become preachy, self-righteous and indignant, and while I can even understand his PoV, he is very unlikeable. However, we keep seeing him "grow" only for him to have the exact same interactions with people...
I can't deny there's a complexity to the character outside of these scenarios; however, it has gotten stale and repetitive. I want to see how this story ends, but I doubt I will enjoy the rest of the journey unless there's some change in it's delivery.
