About this listen

There are two types of people who can’t look you in the eyes: someone trying to hide a lie and someone trying to hide their love.

Addie Blake’s life isn’t black-and-white - more like a series of short bursts of color that sustain her until the next eruption. She isn’t a ladder climber in the corporate world. Instead, she works long hours at the office and even at home, something her mechanic girlfriend, Drake Hogan, can’t stand. If Addie can’t focus on Drake, then Drake finds arm candy that will. After a long week of late nights and a series of text-messaged demands, each one a bigger bomb than the last, Addie has had enough of her motor girl.

Greyson Hollister inhabits a world where everything is either black-and-white or money green. She’s a polished, certified workaholic. As head of Integrated Financial, she has built the ladder others want to climb. Now she intends to attend a business mixer to confront a rumormonger and kill merger rumors involving her company.

Detective Nancy Hill, the lead detective on the Elevator Rapist task force, has just been called in to investigate an attack at Integrated Financial. She can’t quite put her finger on it, but something doesn’t add up with this latest assault, and Greyson Hollister isn’t exactly lending a helping hand.

A storm’s brewing on the horizon. Can Addie and Greyson weather it, or will it blow them over?

Trigger alerts?!

I love the story. I went through in all in a single day. I particularly like that is is a story that is suspenseful, intense and emotionally engaging that has lesbians as characters. It is not a book about lesbians. The flashback scenes are tres hot and I liked most of the characters as well as I could without much backstory.
My only concern is that the book contains several long, intense and detailed descriptions of rapes. These may be triggers and the description makes the book like a basic HEA. So, if you are likely to be triggered by rape scenes I suggest this book be approached carefully.

Can you say intense

This is the first novel Isabella by I have read. I was hooked from the opening lines. The characters are definitely unique personalities with baggage galore. That is what makes this book so interesting. The twists and turns that happen are unpredictable and engaging. Above all this is a realistic story on some many fronts. This is a great novel and it is narrated by a the super talent of Daniela Acitelli. She has a gift for bringing out the best and worst in each character. I would however add the disclaimer that it may be unsuitable for folks with unresolved issues with sexual violence.

This book teaches you more than one thing

I loved this book, it is well written, excellently narrated the story line is interesting, and after you realize where this story is going to you enjoy the way it is edited.
the first thing I learnt from it is that some times you should not read the review or at least read it but don’t make a decision because of it.

Intense

This. Is definitely the most intense book by Isabella that I have read. Strong female characters and twisted plot elements. The story is very detailed and can trigger deep emotional feelings about rape and violence against women. Really find her work fascinating.

Another great story!

I liked the book when I read it and just as much listening to it...even as tragic as the story line is. Though I am a fan of a good who done it. I feel like Isabella gave us enough twist and turns to keep us intrigued to the very end. It’s definitely dark with a lot of angst in it, (well described rape/assault) then I would recommend giving this a try... it does wrap up with a HEA.

As for the Narrator.. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but not enough to take away from the book or discourage me from listening to it.... well done 👍

Strong Effort

I know this is the writers first attempt at writing and I think the storyline is strong but some edits ate needed. This book would have been e5with an experienced narrator. The reading was off and the delivery of some sentences was a form of a question. I am not sure if there is a director who provides direction but either way the book needs help and a much better narrator. Keep trti,zii-9--e

to many holes.

I don't like to many holes. One minute Greyson is in the car going to Addy's because Drake is at door. the
next the Detective Is talking. What the heck happen when she got there? And there was not enough court time.
I would have love to see Drake get sentenced. And come on a rapist and all the criminals out at night and she
taking the subway at night when she's rich and can get a car to pick her up come on now. And then she falls asleep, making
out with a ghost or whatever. I like you Isabella but come on.

Don't waste your time

the ending sucked big time. the narrators was soooooo bad I almost returned it. plus the author rushed the ending with no conclusions on what became of the trial.
