About this listen

Tell me Daniel, can you kill a god?

A tower, perched on the edge of infinity.
A man, doomed to wander its floors eternally.
A mission, where the balance of the world is at stake.

Daniel is a trapped soul. His life has one purpose—survive floor after floor of enemies determined to destroy him. But when a Dark Lord with his own agenda arrives offering a second chance at life, everything changes.

Bestowed the Godhand, Daniel has but one mission: Survive and climb the tower to overthrow its master and claim the tower as his own.

But the journey will be perilous.

Every floor of the tower contains unique challenges. Each revealing apocalyptic perversions of humanity.
In the monster ridden realm of Pandemonium, Daniel has but one choice. He must become one.

He must become a monster.

Yes. I can.

Well done

I tried this one on a whim and it was awesome. I love the writing style it’s enough info to keep you engaged but not too much to bore you between action sequences. I wish it was longer but still definitely worth the credit

A fast-paced timetravel second chance litrpg

~Disclaimer: I received a free audiobook copy of this book. ~

I read this book on kindle awhile back and have been contemplating picking up the story again. So, I nabbed an audiobook code when the opportunity came around. I’m a fan of both second chance time travel and litrpg books and this scratches both. Of course, there is the downside that the sequel isn’t available at this time.

This is a rather short listen. It is a solid intro, but not a ton happens. But there are other books in the series that are longer to listen to. So, the value overall might be worth it to you.

I like the protagonist. I found him relatable.

The story is fast-paced and the action is well described. The imagery I have of the creatures in the story is vivid and interesting. I think this is a fun litrpg for folks looking for a quick listen.

The narration is excellent. I have no complaints there. It was very immersive.

Reincarnated to face the tower dungeon

Daniel is one of the last remaining humans in the tower. The tower is a never ending dungeon that has crushed humanity over and over. A dark god comes to the last 4 survivors and offers them a choice. One person can go back to their first day in the tower with all their knowledge and skills.

This is a very fun story! The narrator is top notch. The character makes intelligent choices. There is minor language. No harem. No sex.

The only downside is that the story is on the short side at just over 4 hours.

I was provided a review copy of this audible upon my request.

A fun LitRPG tower novel that keeps you engaged.

Wolfe Locke does a great job with this title. The story is set up well, the characters are engaging and fun, and the plot is an interesting twist on LitRPG tower novels. The MC isn't all-powerful but does progress faster than his "new" peers. We get to see who the MC is and what he can become this time around. Absolutely loved the story and look forward to the next book! Audio Version: Travis Baldree did an amazing job as always.

Back in Time

In a world where the damned must climb an eternally growing tower only to die and try again, Daniel is giving a chance to start anew with his memories intact and the ability to slay the wraith that supervise the climbs. Behind the scenes, deities who feel the tower is a perversion work to eliminate its creator, and the tower's creator has his own agenda to keep the end of the world at bay. Welcome to the Tower of Ruin.

This audio book is a bit on the short side, yet is an amazing set up for the events sure to come. The main character finds that this climb has changed just enough that he can't forsee everything, but has heard enough tales of what had come from companions in a past cycle that he has a general idea of what to expect. There is a weight to his actions, and the way he handles the danger in front of him is frankly refreshing.

This Audiobook is easy to recommend for fans of old school Ravenloft, or who just want a dark tower climb where the stakes are real.

Solid LitRPG…with a few caveats.

The Tower of Ruin is a solid LitRPG novel, though I must acknowledge a few flaws first. As others have noted it is on the short side, basically covering only the first level of what is supposedly a massive tower. The opening chapters introduce several characters that you’d assume are important and then never seen again, at least for the rest of this volume (though there is a reason for that, and I assume we shall see them show up again in later volumes, it just could have been handled a bit differently I think.) And my final complaint (though again most of these are minor issues) is that so much is left unsaid. No explanation of how the people got to where they are or where they are from. Now I’ve read a ton of LitRPGs so much of it I understand though I still would like to know how the people got into the world, but if this were a person’s first foray into the genre they’d likely be totally confused as to what is happening, and I’d have expected at least some questions to be answered prior to the ending of the book. Though the book is listed as Volume 1 it feels like there is more to the story that happened before where the book starts. That being said the ‘game’ mechanics are well done, the action quite engaging, the story definitely has my interests, and I look forward to having more revealed. The book is narrated by the incredibly talented Travis Baldree. He’s narrated a ton of books, quite a few in the LitRPG genre, and as always he does a spectacular job. I can definitely recommend this book and hope the saga continues, unless you’re someone just starting to check out the LitRPG genre in which case I’d say there are more ‘user friendly’ places to start.

Travis does wonderful

I follow both the author and the narrator, and was pleasantly surprised to find them in tandem. The book, while shorter was a great pickup and a fantastic listen. I am certainly looking forward to the next installment.

absolutely excellence

Literally the only problem with this book is how short it is. If you want an action packed anime style litrpg, this book is awesome.

The main character is likeable so that's a plus, and he's always trying to get the people around him to better themselves. It doesn't really work out super well cause he's not super good with people but he has great intentions.

There are hints about the rules of the world that make it sound very intriguing.

The action is well choreographed and there is a bunch of it.

Travis Baldree doesn't need a whole lot of talking up, he's simply one of the best in the business right now.

First tower litrpg

This was my first tower litrpg and I like the premise. The story line does a bit of bouncing around and if your attention strays it’s easy to miss an important part of the underlying story. I listened to the book twice to make sure I caught all of it and because it’s pretty short. It’s definitely not the crunchiest of litrpg, not a lot of stats, but the story is pretty solid and I’m interested to see where it goes as long as price is right for the length of future books.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
